Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Perform comprehensive landscape maintenance duties, including mowing, trimming, edging, and blowing of turf areas to maintain a neat and professional appearance.
- Cultivate and care for flowerbeds, gardens, and shrubbery through planting, weeding, fertilizing, mulching, and pruning to ensure plant health and aesthetic appeal.
- Operate a wide range of grounds maintenance equipment, such as commercial mowers, tractors, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, and aerators, ensuring safe and effective use.
- Execute seasonal grounds tasks, including comprehensive spring clean-up, extensive leaf removal in the fall, and thorough preparation of grounds for winter conditions.
- Monitor, maintain, and repair irrigation and sprinkler systems, including adjusting heads, programming controllers, and troubleshooting system failures to ensure efficient water usage.
- Apply pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers in accordance with all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and application guidelines to control pests, diseases, and weeds.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on all groundskeeping equipment, including cleaning, fluid checks, oil changes, blade sharpening, and minor repairs to extend equipment life and ensure reliability.
- Identify and proactively address potential safety hazards on the grounds, such as broken branches, uneven pathways, or pest infestations, and report major issues to management for resolution.
- Maintain the cleanliness and order of all exterior areas, including parking lots, walkways, patios, and common spaces, by removing litter, debris, and emptying trash receptacles.
- Respond to weather-related emergencies, including snow and ice removal from sidewalks, entryways, and parking areas using plows, snow blowers, and chemical de-icing treatments.
- Assist in landscape construction and installation projects, which may include grading, sodding, seeding, and the proper planting of trees, shrubs, and perennial flowers.
- Prepare and maintain athletic fields for sporting events as required, including lining fields, dragging infields, and ensuring the playing surface is safe and up to standard.
- Inspect and maintain hardscape elements like fences, benches, retaining walls, and pathways, performing minor repairs and cleaning as needed to ensure safety and appearance.
- Manage and maintain a clean and organized inventory of groundskeeping tools, supplies, and equipment in designated storage areas.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company policies, local, state, and federal regulations, and industry best practices for safety and environmental protection.

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Equipment Operation: Proficiency in safely operating a wide array of landscaping and snow removal equipment (e.g., zero-turn mowers, tractors, skid steers, trimmers, chainsaws, snowplows).
- Horticultural Knowledge: Strong understanding of plant identification, proper pruning techniques, soil science, and common plant diseases and pests.
