Primary Functions
- Precisely assemble and glue guitar body components, including tops, backs, and sides, ensuring perfect alignment and structural integrity using specialized jigs and clamps.
- Carefully carve, shape, and sand guitar necks to exact profile specifications using a combination of hand tools like spokeshaves and files, as well as automated shapers and sanders.

- Install, wire, and solder electronic components such as pickups, potentiometers, switches, and output jacks according to complex wiring diagrams and schematics, ensuring clean connections and proper functionality.
- Fit and attach the neck to the guitar body, meticulously checking the neck angle and alignment to guarantee optimal string action and resonance.
- Mount a variety of hardware, including tuning machines, bridges, tailpieces, and pickguards, ensuring precise placement and secure installation for stable tuning and performance.
- Perform the complete final setup process, which involves stringing the instrument, adjusting the truss rod for proper neck relief, setting the string height (action) at the nut and saddle, and fine-tuning the intonation.
- Conduct rigorous in-process quality control inspections at every stage of assembly, identifying and correcting any cosmetic blemishes, measurement discrepancies, or functional issues before the part moves to the next station.
- Operate a wide range of woodworking machinery safely and effectively, including band saws, drill presses, routers, and various types of sanders, to fabricate and refine guitar components.
- Read and interpret detailed technical blueprints, work orders, and process sheets to ensure every instrument is built to the correct design, material, and customer specifications.
- Prepare guitar bodies and necks for the finishing process through meticulous final sanding, ensuring a perfectly smooth and flawless surface free of any defects.
- Install decorative elements like binding and purfling along the edges of the guitar body and fretboard, a delicate task requiring a steady hand and extreme precision.
- Utilize a variety of precision measuring instruments, such as digital calipers, micrometers, and specialized gauges, to verify component dimensions and assembly tolerances throughout the build process.
- Inspect raw wood and other materials upon receipt, identifying and flagging any flaws, such as knots, cracks, or inconsistent grain, that could impact the quality of the final instrument.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following all company procedures and 5S principles, ensuring a smooth and efficient production flow.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration on hand tools, power tools, and machinery to ensure they are in optimal working condition and to prevent production delays.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues in adjacent departments, such as the wood mill, finishing, and final inspection, to troubleshoot issues and maintain a seamless workflow from raw material to finished product.
- Diligently document work performed, track parts usage, and record quality data in the production management system to maintain accurate records and support inventory control.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines, consistently using required personal protective equipment (PPE) like safety glasses, gloves, and respiratory protection.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement programs by suggesting and helping to implement enhancements to assembly processes, tooling, or workplace organization to boost quality and productivity.
