Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Greet all members and guests with a warm, energetic, and welcoming attitude to set a positive tone for their workout experience.
- Manage the member check-in process efficiently, verifying memberships, processing guest passes, and providing facility access using our member management software.
- Conduct regular, thorough walkthroughs of the entire fitness facility, including the gym floor, locker rooms, and studios, to ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment.
- Proactively clean, sanitize, and wipe down all fitness equipment, including cardio machines, strength training equipment, and free weights, according to a strict cleaning schedule.
- Monitor the gym floor to ensure members are adhering to facility rules and regulations, practicing safe exercise techniques, and sharing equipment courteously.
- Provide comprehensive orientations to new members, demonstrating the proper use of various cardio and strength equipment and explaining facility amenities and policies.
- Serve as the main point of contact for member inquiries, confidently answering questions in person and over the phone regarding memberships, class schedules, and services.
- Diligently restock essential supplies throughout the facility, including sanitation wipes, paper towels, towels, and water cooler provisions, ensuring they are always available for members.
- Perform minor preventative maintenance on fitness equipment and promptly report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or necessary repairs to the management team through designated channels.
- Respond calmly and effectively to any incidents or emergencies, including member injuries or medical situations, administering First Aid/CPR/AED as trained and completing detailed incident reports.
- Assist members with setting up and adjusting fitness equipment, offering basic guidance and spotting assistance when appropriate to ensure their safety and confidence.
- Maintain accurate and organized records, including facility usage logs, cleaning checklists, maintenance reports, and member feedback.
- Actively enforce all gym policies and procedures in a firm but polite manner to maintain a high-quality, safe, and respectful environment for everyone.
- Open and/or close the fitness facility following detailed procedural checklists, ensuring all systems are operational and the building is secure.
Secondary Functions
- Assist with membership sales, promotional events, and community outreach initiatives to help grow the facility's member base.
- Provide valuable feedback to management regarding member preferences, equipment popularity, and potential service improvements.
- Support the front desk team during peak hours by answering phones, processing payments for retail items, and managing class sign-up sheets.
- Participate actively in regular staff meetings and professional development sessions to stay current on fitness trends, new equipment, and evolving safety protocols.
- Fold, stack, and manage the inventory of clean towels, ensuring a constant and neatly presented supply is available for member use.
- Engage with members on the gym floor to build rapport, offer encouragement, and foster a strong, supportive community atmosphere.
- Assist group fitness instructors with the setup and breakdown of equipment for classes and special workshops.
Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- CPR/First Aid/AED Certification: Current certification is often required or must be obtained shortly after hiring.
- Fitness Equipment Knowledge: A strong understanding of the proper and safe use of a wide range of cardio and strength-training equipment.
- Basic Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with using Point of Sale (POS) systems and member management software for check-ins and transactions.

Educational Background
Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
