Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Engage and greet all members, guests, and visitors with a warm, welcoming, and enthusiastic demeanor to create a positive and inclusive first impression.
- Actively monitor the fitness floor, weight room, and functional training areas to ensure member safety, enforce gym policies, and offer assistance or spotting when appropriate.
- Execute a rigorous cleaning and sanitization schedule for all cardiovascular and strength-training equipment, free weights, mats, and high-touch surfaces to maintain a hygienic and pristine workout environment.
- Diligently re-rack weights and organize fitness accessories (e.g., bands, balls, kettlebells) throughout the day to ensure the gym floor remains tidy, safe, and accessible for all members.
- Serve as a knowledgeable first point of contact for members, confidently answering questions about proper equipment usage, class schedules, and general facility information.
- Promptly identify, document, and report any malfunctioning or broken fitness equipment to the management or maintenance team to ensure swift repairs and minimize member disruption.
- Professionally and politely enforce all facility rules and regulations, such as proper attire, equipment etiquette, and time limits, to ensure a fair and safe experience for everyone.
- Conduct comprehensive and engaging tours for prospective members, highlighting the facility's features, amenities, and the unique benefits of membership.
- Regularly inspect and maintain the cleanliness and stock levels of locker rooms, restrooms, and shower areas, ensuring towels, toiletries, and other amenities are always available.
- Execute detailed opening and closing procedures for the fitness center, including turning on/off equipment, lights, audio/visual systems, and securing the facility.
- Provide basic fitness guidance and educate members on the proper and safe use of equipment, demonstrating correct form without providing prescriptive personal training services.
- Monitor member check-ins and control facility access to prevent unauthorized entry and ensure a secure environment for paying members and authorized guests.
- Manage the inventory of workout and shower towels, including laundering, folding, and distributing them to ensure a constant, clean supply for members.
- Ensure all areas of the gym are well-stocked, including water stations, paper towel dispensers, and sanitizing wipe stations, refilling them proactively throughout your shift.
- Actively build rapport with members by learning their names and fitness interests to foster a positive, motivating, and community-oriented atmosphere within the fitness center.
Secondary Functions
- Provide hands-on support for special events, fitness challenges, and promotional activities, including setting up equipment, tables, and signage.
- Listen to and document member feedback, suggestions, and complaints, escalating issues to management when necessary to drive continuous improvement of services.
- Assist the front desk staff during peak hours by helping with new member registrations, processing point-of-sale transactions, and explaining membership options.

Required Skills & Competencies
