Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
The day-to-day focus is on keeping the equipment running and the facility in top shape.
- Conduct comprehensive daily inspections and preventative maintenance schedules for all cardiovascular equipment, including treadmills, ellipticals, and stationary bikes, to ensure optimal performance and user safety.
- Perform diagnostic tests and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures on a wide array of strength training machines, cable systems, and free weight equipment.
- Execute timely and effective repairs on fitness equipment, which includes sourcing, ordering, and replacing parts such as belts, decks, cables, and electronic consoles.
- Assemble, install, and calibrate new fitness equipment according to manufacturer specifications and ensure it is safely integrated into the gym floor layout.
- Maintain the integrity of the facility’s infrastructure, including basic plumbing repairs like fixing leaks in showers, toilets, and sinks in the locker rooms.
- Address basic electrical issues, such as replacing light bulbs, ballasts, and light switches to ensure all areas are well-lit and safe.
- Perform routine upkeep of the facility’s aesthetic, including drywall patching, painting, and repairing flooring to maintain a clean and professional appearance.
- Conduct regular, documented safety walkthroughs of the entire facility to identify potential hazards, from trip risks on the floor to equipment malfunctions.
