Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Perform routine and scheduled preventive maintenance on a diverse range of cardiovascular equipment, including treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, and rowers, to minimize downtime.
- Conduct thorough inspections and functional tests on all strength-training equipment, including free weights, plate-loaded machines, and selectorized stations, to identify wear and tear.
- Execute timely and effective repairs on malfunctioning fitness equipment by diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues with precision.
- Maintain an exceptionally detailed and accurate digital log of all maintenance activities, service histories, repairs performed, and parts used for each piece of equipment.
- Disassemble and reassemble complex machinery to replace faulty components such as motors, belts, cables, pulleys, and electronic consoles.
- Proactively walk the gym floor daily to visually inspect equipment, identify potential safety hazards, and address minor issues before they escalate.
- Respond with a sense of urgency to service calls and trouble tickets reported by gym staff and members, providing clear communication on repair status.
- Ensure all equipment is meticulously cleaned, lubricated, and calibrated according to manufacturer specifications and the facility’s high standards of presentation.
- Manage the assembly and professional installation of new fitness equipment, ensuring it is set up safely and correctly according to layout plans.
- Adhere strictly to all workplace health and safety standards, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and lockout/tagout procedures during repairs.
- Skillfully troubleshoot and resolve issues with equipment entertainment systems, heart rate monitors, and other integrated digital features.
Secondary Functions
- Manage and organize a comprehensive inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies, initiating purchase orders to replenish stock as needed.
- Liaise directly with third-party service vendors and manufacturer representatives to coordinate advanced repairs, warranty claims, and specialized service.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the facility's overall preventive maintenance strategy and schedule.
- Provide basic operational training to front-line staff on how to properly use equipment, identify common user errors, and perform simple daily cleaning tasks.
