Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Provide first-class client preparation, including professional shampooing, conditioning, and therapeutic scalp massages tailored to individual hair and scalp needs.
- Assist senior stylists with a wide range of services, including meticulously applying hair color, glosses, and treatments under direct supervision.
- Execute flawless blowouts and basic styling techniques to prepare clients for their final look, demonstrating proficiency with various tools and products.
- Maintain a deep knowledge of our salon's retail product lines to confidently educate clients and provide personalized recommendations for at-home care.
- Ensure the salon floor, individual stations, and shampoo areas are kept immaculate, organized, and fully stocked throughout the day.
- Perform rigorous and consistent sanitization of all tools, brushes, combs, and equipment in accordance with state board regulations and salon health standards.
- Manage the salon's laundry, ensuring a constant supply of clean towels, capes, and robes for clients and staff.
- Greet clients warmly upon arrival, escort them to the styling station or shampoo area, and ensure their comfort with beverages and amenities.
- Anticipate the needs of stylists by preparing their stations, laying out necessary tools, and mixing color formulas as directed.
- Sweep and remove hair clippings from the floor promptly after each haircut to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Monitor and manage back-bar and retail inventory levels, notifying the salon manager of low stock to ensure timely reordering.
- Assist with front desk operations during peak times, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and processing client payments.
- Actively participate in salon education classes and training sessions to continuously develop technical skills and stay current with industry trends.
- Observe and learn advanced cutting, coloring, and styling techniques by closely shadowing experienced stylists during client services.
- Provide support during special treatments, such as keratin applications or deep conditioning masks, ensuring all steps are followed correctly.
- Help maintain client records with notes on formulas, services performed, and products purchased to ensure consistent future service.
- Create a positive and relaxing atmosphere for clients, engaging in friendly conversation and addressing any immediate needs or concerns.
- Prepare and organize foils, applicators, and other necessary materials for complex color services like balayage and highlights.
- Uphold the salon's brand image and professional standards through personal presentation and exceptional customer interactions.
- Assist in opening and closing procedures for the salon, including cleaning, restocking, and preparing for the next business day.
- Support marketing initiatives by helping to maintain the cleanliness of areas used for social media content creation.
- Proactively seek opportunities to assist the team, demonstrating a strong work ethic and a "no task is too small" attitude.
