Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Conduct consumer and stylist insight research, hair‑trend analysis and competitor benchmarking to identify new product opportunities and define hair‑care innovation briefs.
- Develop hair‑care product concepts (shampoos, conditioners, treatments, styling gels, hair oils, scalp care) including format, benefit, positioning, claims and target consumer.
- Collaborate with R&D/formulation teams to design, prototype and optimize hair‑care formulas; evaluate ingredient feasibility, compatibility, hair type performance and stability.
- Manage laboratory and pilot scale testing: stability, performance (e.g., shine, manageability, frizz control), in‑vitro/in‑vivo trials, efficacy claims and user testing for hair products.
- Prepare technical documentation for product registration, notifications, freedom to operate, claims substantiation, regulatory compliance (e.g., FDA, EU cosmetics directive, GMP) for hair‑care launches.
- Work across functions with packaging engineers, supply‑chain and manufacturing to ensure scalability of hair‑care formulas, supplier qualification, production transfer and cost optimisation.
- Develop and maintain product specifications, hair‑care technical dossiers, safety assessments, ingredient reviews, allergen and regulatory checks, and compliance tracking.
- Collaborate with marketing and brand teams to translate hair‑care product benefits into consumer‑facing messaging, demos, training materials, sensory claims and hair‑care storytelling.

- Lead sustainability initiatives in hair‑care development: evaluate sustainable ingredients, packaging impact, carbon footprint, recyclability, and support brand’s eco‑commitments in hair‑product portfolio.
- Drive quality assurance and manufacturing readiness for hair‑care products: ensure batch consistency, supplier audits, manufacturing troubleshooting, hair‑care product performance verification and deviation handling.
- Provide training and knowledge transfer on hair‑care products: brief internal teams (sales, marketing, customer service, stylists) on hair science, features/benefits, usage instructions, claims and supporting data.

- Collaborate with regulatory, safety and quality teams to manage hair‑care product integrity: oversee sensory/hair panel testing, microbial/stability tests, compliance with GMP, EU/USA regulations and hair‑care claims substantiation.
- Champion continuous improvement in hair‑product development processes: refine workflows, adopt new formulation technologies, evaluate hair‑care testing methods, reduce time‑to‑market and increase productivity.
- Act as internal hair‑care product development expert: present to senior leadership on pipeline status, product KPIs (launch success, margin, hair‑care claims), risk & opportunity, and support strategic planning of hair‑care portfolio.
