Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Interpret and execute complex designs from technical drawings, sketches, or digital models to create high-quality, finished handcrafted products.
  • Operate, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on a wide range of specialized workshop equipment, including hand tools, power tools, CNC machinery, laser cutters, 3D printers, kilns, or looms.
  • Meticulously perform specific craft processes such as carving, sculpting, joining, weaving, molding, glazing, and soldering according to precise specifications.
  • Select, prepare, and manage raw materials (like wood, clay, metal, textiles, leather) to ensure optimal quality and performance while minimizing waste.
  • Apply a variety of finishing techniques, including sanding, polishing, painting, staining, varnishing, and waxing, to achieve the desired aesthetic and durability.
  • Conduct rigorous quality control inspections at multiple stages of the production process to identify and correct defects, ensuring all products meet brand and client standards.
  • Assemble multi-part products with exceptional precision, ensuring secure fittings, proper alignment, and functional integrity.
  • Develop and refine prototypes for new products, working collaboratively with designers to test concepts and troubleshoot potential production issues.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workshop environment by adhering to all safety protocols and proper tool storage procedures.
  • Accurately document production processes, material usage, and project timelines to support inventory management and production planning.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems that arise during the creation process, applying creative problem-solving to overcome material or mechanical challenges.
  • Manage individual production schedules to meet deadlines without compromising the quality and integrity of the craft.
  • Create custom jigs, fixtures, or molds to streamline repetitive tasks and improve consistency and efficiency in production.
  • Research and experiment with new materials, tools, and techniques to contribute to innovation and the continuous improvement of the craft.
  • Prepare and package finished goods for shipping, ensuring they are protected adequately to prevent damage during transit.
