Primary Functions

- Collaborate intimately with Mechanical Engineering teams to guarantee that handle designs are structurally sound, manufacturable, and seamlessly integrate with the main product architecture.
- Work directly with materials engineers and external suppliers to research, select, and specify materials (polymers, elastomers, metals, wood, composites) based on tactile qualities, durability, cost, and sustainability.
- Develop and document comprehensive CMF (Color, Material, Finish) specifications for all handle components, ensuring they align with the brand's design language and the overall product's visual identity.
- Translate qualitative user feedback, quantitative data, and market trend analysis into actionable design requirements that result in competitive and user-preferred handle solutions.
- Prepare and deliver compelling design presentations and narratives to cross-functional teams, leadership, and key stakeholders to clearly articulate design rationale, process, and final intent.
- Generate exhaustive technical documentation, including 2D control drawings and 3D files, for manufacturing partners to ensure the design is executed with precision in mass production.
- Perform rigorous hands-on testing of prototypes and first-off-tool parts to validate performance against ergonomic, aesthetic, and mechanical stress requirements.
- Stay relentlessly curious and informed about the latest advancements in design trends, grip texturing, materials technology, and manufacturing processes relevant to handles and user interfaces.
