Primary Functions

  • Apply adhesives, interfacing, edge binding, and welt finishes when required by the design, ensuring adhesives are applied evenly and cured correctly to avoid stiffness or separation.
  • Use measuring tools (tapes, calipers, templates) to verify crown height, brim width, and seam allowance in-process and adjust operations to meet dimensional tolerances.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives (Lean/Kaizen) by suggesting process improvements, standard work updates, and waste reduction ideas aimed at improving first-pass yield and reducing cycle time.
  • Adhere to workplace safety protocols and PPE requirements when operating heat equipment, cutting tools, pressing stations, and handling chemical adhesives or dyes.
  • Support small-batch and custom orders including sample sewing, bespoke adjustments, and final hand-finishing to meet client-specific requirements and brand quality standards.
  • Coordinate with inventory and material handlers to flag shortages, damaged goods, or non-conforming trims, and to request replacement materials promptly to avoid line stoppages.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workstation and properly store patterns, tools, and jigs to ensure quick changeovers and consistent output quality.
  • Communicate production status, quality issues, and schedule conflicts to supervisors in a timely manner and participate in daily huddles to align priorities across the production floor.
