Primary Functions

  • Conduct detailed client consultations to assess event type, personal style, face shape, head measurements and wardrobe to recommend and create flattering hat styles tailored to individual needs.

  • Select, source and evaluate materials including felts, straw, sinamay, buckram, trims, feathers, veiling and hardware, negotiating with suppliers and maintaining sustainable sourcing practices when possible.
  • Hand-sew and machine-sew components, perform intricate trimming, wiring, stitch work and finishing to achieve couture-level presentation and durability.
  • Execute millinery embellishments—feather work, veiling, beadwork, ribbon manipulation, and hand-pleating—to meet bespoke and editorial standards.
  • Perform accurate head measurements and fitting sessions, make on-the-spot adjustments and alterations to ensure optimal comfort, stability and style.
  • Manage custom order workflows from consultation to delivery, including timelines, sample approvals, revisions and client communications.
  • Collaborate with photographers, stylists and creative directors for editorial shoots, lookbooks and runway presentations, ensuring hats complement the overall visual concept.
  • Provide professional styling advice in-store and at trunk shows or pop-ups, pairing hats with outfits and accessories to maximize cross-sell and client satisfaction.

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
