Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Direct all aspects of the baseball program, including the planning and execution of in-season and out-of-season training, practice sessions, and competitive game-day strategy.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive national and international recruiting strategy to identify, evaluate, and attract top-tier student-athletes who align with the institution's rigorous academic and athletic standards.
- Provide exceptional leadership and mentorship to student-athletes, actively fostering their personal growth, academic achievement, and athletic development throughout their collegiate careers.
- Design and implement advanced in-game strategies, including data-informed pitching changes, complex defensive alignments, and effective offensive play-calling to maximize team performance.
- Oversee the academic progress and eligibility of all student-athletes, collaborating closely with academic support services to ensure timely graduation and adherence to NCAA academic requirements.
- Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate a high-performing team of assistant coaches and support staff, delegating responsibilities to build a cohesive and effective coaching unit.
- Utilize modern video analysis tools and statistical software (e.g., TrackMan, Rapsodo, Synergy) to analyze player performance, scout opponents, and inform data-driven coaching decisions.
- Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and highly competitive team culture founded on principles of excellence, integrity, hard work, and sportsmanship.
- Conduct comprehensive scouting and analysis of opponents to develop detailed game plans and strategic approaches for each competition.
- Establish and enforce team policies and standards of conduct, ensuring a disciplined and respectful environment for all program participants.
- Design and implement a year-round strength, conditioning, and nutrition program in close collaboration with the sports performance and athletic training staff to optimize player health and physical development.
- Ensure unwavering compliance with all NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations regarding recruiting, eligibility, playing and practice seasons, and student-athlete welfare.
- Provide direct, on-field instruction and expert coaching in all phases of the game, including hitting, pitching, fielding, and baserunning.
- Manage the evaluation and allocation of athletic scholarships in accordance with the program budget and institutional guidelines.
- Develop a long-term strategic vision for the baseball program aimed at achieving sustained competitive success and national recognition.
Secondary Functions
- Organize, promote, and direct all baseball camps, clinics, and showcases to generate revenue, enhance community engagement, and identify future prospects.
- Actively lead and participate in fundraising initiatives, alumni relations, and donor cultivation events to secure financial support and enhance the program's resources.
- Serve as the primary media contact and official spokesperson for the baseball program, managing public relations and fostering positive relationships with local and national media outlets.
- Manage the program's annual operating budget, overseeing all expenditures for team travel, equipment, recruiting, and operational needs with fiscal responsibility.
- Coordinate all team travel logistics, including transportation, lodging, and meals for all away contests and tournaments.
- Oversee the management, maintenance, and scheduling of all baseball facilities, including the playing field, batting cages, and locker rooms, in coordination with the facilities department.
- Foster positive relationships with university administration, faculty, alumni, boosters, and the broader community to promote the baseball program and the athletic department.
Required Skills & Competencies

Education & Experience
Educational Background
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience Requirements
Typical Experience Range:
- 5-7 years of progressive and successful baseball coaching experience, preferably at the NCAA Division I, II, or III level.
Preferred:
- Previous head coaching experience at the collegiate level with a documented track record of program building, recruiting success, and competitive achievement. Experience coaching in a highly competitive conference is strongly preferred.
