Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Oversee daily operations of the tailoring workshop, including scheduling, job assignment, and monitoring workflow to ensure bespoke orders and alterations are completed on time and to brand standards.
- Perform complex fittings and consultations with clients, interpreting style requests, taking precise measurements, recommending fabrics and construction methods, and ensuring perfect fit and customer satisfaction.

- Execute and supervise advanced tailoring techniques such as hand basting, pad stitching, canvas insertion, pick stitching, sleeve setting, waist suppression, and couture hand finishing to meet luxury quality expectations.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate tailoring staff (tailors, cutters, seamstresses, apprentice-level team members) on techniques, quality criteria, productivity standards, and safe machine operation to build technical depth across the workshop.
- Establish and enforce quality control checkpoints at cutting, sewing, fitting, and finishing stages; inspect garments for alignment, balance, fit, seam integrity, and finishing details before client delivery.
- Develop and maintain bespoke order workflows, from intake and quoting to production tracking and final delivery, using workshop management systems or ERP tools to maximize throughput and minimize errors.
- Estimate labor hours and costs for bespoke orders and alterations; prepare accurate job quotes and communicate pricing to sales staff and clients while protecting profit margins.
- Collaborate with design and product development teams to translate design concepts into technically feasible garments, including producing prototypes, fit samples, and technical pack documentation.
- Manage inventory of tailoring materials and supplies (linings, canvases, interfacings, buttons, threads, zips, trims) and coordinate with vendors to ensure fabric availability and timely replenishment.
- Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), tailoring manuals, and measurement templates to codify best practices and ensure reproducible, high-quality outcomes across the team.
- Implement and maintain health & safety and machine maintenance schedules for industrial sewing machines, pressing equipment, and cutting tables to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Resolve complex fit or construction issues during fittings by recommending creative technical solutions (pattern adjustments, structural reinforcements, or bespoke alterations) while preserving the design intent.
- Lead recruitment and onboarding of tailoring talent, conduct skills assessments, and design individualized training plans to close technical gaps and scale the workshop capability.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing lead time, increasing first-time-right rates, improving finish quality, and reducing rework through data-driven process refinement.
- Support showroom and retail teams with high-touch tailoring services, communicate order status proactively to clients, and represent the tailoring workshop in customer-facing interactions when needed.
- Coordinate with external suppliers and production partners for outsourced services (specialized finishes, embroidery, or pressing) and manage quality expectations, timelines, and costs.
- Maintain accurate production records, measurement logs, alteration histories, and client preferences to enable repeat orders and personalized service for returning customers.
- Design and oversee sample programs for new collections, ensuring samples meet technical fit standards and providing technical feedback to designers to refine patterns before bulk production.
- Monitor and enforce brand aesthetic and construction specifications across all tailor-made garments, ensuring consistency with brand identity and quality benchmarks.

- Handle escalated customer complaints about fit or workmanship, offer timely remediation (repairs, refunds, redoes) and institutionalize learnings to prevent recurrence.
- Manage special projects such as bespoke trunk shows, on-site tailoring pop-ups, or collaboration capsule collections, coordinating resources between retail, marketing, and production teams.
