Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Monitor, track, and analyze federal and state legislative and regulatory activities related to healthcare financing, delivery systems, public health, and insurance markets.
- Conduct in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis of proposed and enacted policies to assess their potential impact on the organization, our members, and the broader healthcare system.
- Develop, author, and disseminate a wide range of high-impact written materials, including policy briefs, in-depth reports, white papers, public comments, and fact sheets for diverse audiences.
- Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and compelling presentations on complex policy issues to internal leadership, external stakeholders, and government bodies.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on key healthcare topics, such as Medicare, Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), value-based care, and health equity.
- Formulate evidence-based policy recommendations and strategic advice to guide organizational decision-making and advocacy initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, legislative staff, industry associations, and advocacy groups.
- Represent the organization in external meetings, coalitions, workgroups, and public forums to advance our policy priorities.
- Translate complex policy language and statistical analysis into understandable insights and strategic imperatives for non-technical audiences.
- Design and manage research projects from conception to completion, including methodology development, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing health programs and policies using claims data, survey data, and other administrative datasets.
- Provide rapid-response analysis and briefing materials on breaking policy developments and legislative changes under tight deadlines.
- Collaborate with legal, communications, and clinical teams to ensure a coordinated and consistent organizational response to policy issues.
- Support the development of the organization's annual policy agenda and long-term strategic plan.
