Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct in-depth, in-home or virtual client consultations to thoroughly understand their lifestyle, design preferences, functional requirements, and budget constraints.
  • Develop comprehensive and personalized design concepts, translating client needs and abstract ideas into cohesive visual plans and mood boards.
  • Create detailed and accurate space plans and furniture layouts to optimize traffic flow, functionality, and the overall aesthetic of the environment.
  • Source, select, and specify furniture, lighting, textiles, floor coverings, and accessories (FF&E) that align with the design concept and client's budget.
  • Develop and present compelling design presentations to clients, effectively communicating the design intent and rationale behind every selection.
  • Create and manage detailed project budgets, providing clients with clear cost estimates and tracking expenses meticulously throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage the full procurement cycle, including generating proposals, placing orders with vendors, and tracking shipments to ensure timely delivery of all items.
  • Coordinate and oversee the installation process, working closely with delivery teams, installers, and tradespeople to ensure flawless execution of the design plan.
  • Execute the final styling and accessorizing of the space, adding the finishing touches that bring the entire design to life and create a "reveal-ready" moment.
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with clients, providing exceptional service and communication from initial contact through to project completion and beyond.
  • Skillfully manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks effectively to meet deadlines and maintain high standards of quality for each client.
  • Conduct precise on-site measurements and document existing site conditions to inform accurate space planning and product specification.
  • Problem-solve creatively and efficiently when faced with project challenges, such as discontinued products, shipping delays, or unexpected site conditions.
  • Curate and propose unique color palettes, material finishes, and fabric schemes that create a harmonious and inviting atmosphere.
  • Generate 2D or 3D digital renderings and visualizations to help clients better understand and connect with the proposed design for their space.

Secondary Functions

  • Continuously research and stay ahead of emerging interior design trends, new materials, product innovations, and evolving styles.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with a network of vendors, suppliers, artisans, and trade professionals.
  • Curate and maintain the studio's physical and digital sample library, ensuring all materials like fabric swatches, wood finishes, and paint chips are organized and current.
  • Assist in creating content for the company’s marketing channels, including photographing completed projects and writing descriptions for a portfolio, blog, or social media.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, design charettes, and collaborative brainstorming sessions to foster a creative and supportive studio environment.
  • Provide expert product knowledge and design advice to customers in a retail setting, driving sales and promoting design services.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
