Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Execute comprehensive, top-to-bottom interior cleaning of all living areas, including detailed vacuuming, mopping, and sanitizing of floors, carpets, and upholstery to impeccable standards.
  • Thoroughly clean and sanitize galleys (kitchens), including all countertops, sinks, fixtures, and appliances such as refrigerators, ovens, and microwaves, ensuring they are spotless and ready for use.
  • Detail and disinfect heads (bathrooms), meticulously cleaning toilets, showers, sinks, mirrors, and all hardware, leaving them pristine and hygienically safe.
  • Expertly make all beds with fresh, clean linens to a hotel-quality presentation standard, managing the complete turnover of all used towels and bedding.
  • Wash all interior and exterior windows, portholes, and glass doors to achieve a streak-free finish, maximizing natural light and views.
  • Meticulously wash, scrub, and rinse all exterior surfaces, including decks, non-skid surfaces, railings, and ladders to remove salt, dirt, and bird droppings.
  • Conduct post-charter or post-use inspections to identify, photograph, and report any damage, lost items, or maintenance needs to the property manager.
  • Systematically restock the vessel with all essential guest supplies, such as toiletries, paper products, coffee, and welcome amenities, according to a pre-defined checklist.
  • Organize all cabins, closets, and common areas, ensuring every item is in its designated place to create a tidy, uncluttered, and welcoming environment.
  • Polish all metal, chrome, and stainless-steel fixtures throughout the interior and exterior to maintain their shine and prevent corrosion.
  • Manage all onboard trash and recycling, ensuring it is properly sorted and disposed of in accordance with marina and environmental regulations.
  • Prepare the houseboat for guest arrival by setting the climate control, turning on appropriate lighting, and staging amenities to create an exceptional first impression.
  • Clean and prepare all outdoor living spaces, including wiping down furniture, cleaning BBQ grills, and organizing any deck equipment.
  • Perform deep cleaning of carpets and upholstery using specialized equipment as scheduled or as needed to remove stains and refresh the fabric.
  • Check and confirm the functionality of basic onboard systems like lights, faucets, and small appliances, reporting any malfunctions immediately.

Secondary Functions

  • Maintain a detailed inventory of all cleaning supplies, linens, and guest amenities, submitting restock orders as needed to prevent shortages.
  • Assist with seasonal deep-cleaning projects, including the comprehensive cleaning required for winterization or spring commissioning of the vessel.
  • Provide support in staging the houseboat for photoshoots or special events, ensuring it looks its absolute best for marketing purposes.
  • Communicate proactively with the management team regarding scheduling, vessel status, and any challenges that may impact a turnover deadline.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, particularly when using chemical cleaning agents and working on or near water, to ensure a safe work environment.

  • Advanced Cleaning Techniques: Proficiency in cleaning and caring for a variety of surfaces, including fiberglass, wood, stainless steel, and marine-grade upholstery.
  • Marine-Specific Product Knowledge: Understanding of which cleaning products are effective and safe for marine environments and vessel surfaces.
  • Inventory Management: Ability to track, manage, and restock linens, toiletries, and cleaning supplies efficiently.

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • 1-3 years of professional cleaning or housekeeping experience.

Preferred:

  • Direct experience in luxury hospitality (4/5-star hotels, resorts), high-end residential cleaning, or prior work on yachts, private jets, or other houseboats is strongly preferred. Experience working in a marine environment is a significant asset.
