Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Conduct comprehensive guest orientations, including detailed instruction on houseboat operation, safety procedures, emergency protocols, and onboard amenities.
- Assist the Captain in piloting, navigating, mooring, and anchoring the houseboat in various weather and water conditions.
- Provide exceptional, five-star customer service to all guests, proactively anticipating their needs and responding to inquiries and requests promptly and professionally.
- Perform daily safety checks of the vessel and all related equipment, including engines, generators, safety gear (life jackets, fire extinguishers), and navigation systems.
- Handle dock lines to moor and unmoor the vessel safely and efficiently, communicating clearly with the Captain and other crew members.
- Maintain the exterior cleanliness and appearance of the houseboat, including regular washing of decks, windows, and hulls to uphold brand standards.
- Ensure the interior of the houseboat is immaculate, performing detailed housekeeping duties such as cleaning cabins, galleys, heads (bathrooms), and common areas.
- Assist guests with embarking and disembarking, including the safe handling of luggage, provisions, and personal belongings.
- Monitor guest activities on and around the vessel to ensure compliance with company policies and waterway safety regulations.
- Respond effectively and calmly to any onboard emergencies, including medical situations, mechanical failures, or severe weather, following established protocols.
- Manage onboard inventory of supplies, including linens, cleaning products, guest amenities, and provisions, and report needs for restocking.
- Operate and assist guests with using onboard recreational equipment such as kayaks, paddleboards, slides, and small motorboats, ensuring their safety at all times.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for guests throughout their trip, offering local knowledge, activity suggestions, and continuous support to enhance their experience.
Secondary Functions
- Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on vessel systems, including plumbing, electrical, and mechanical components, under the guidance of the Captain or engineer.
- Assist with fueling the houseboat and associated watercraft, adhering strictly to environmental and safety procedures.
- Manage waste disposal and pump-out procedures for holding tanks in a sanitary and environmentally responsible manner.
- Prepare the vessel for charter, including stocking provisions, setting up linens, and ensuring all systems are operational before guest arrival.
- Assist in the preparation and service of meals and beverages if included in the charter package, ensuring high standards of presentation and hygiene.
- Document and report any vessel damage, maintenance issues, or guest incidents to the management team in a timely and detailed manner.
- Participate in ongoing safety drills and training sessions to maintain a high level of preparedness and proficiency.
- Maintain and clean ancillary equipment, including BBQ grills, deck furniture, and water toys, ensuring they are in excellent condition for guest use.
- Support shoreside operations with vessel turnaround, cleaning, and restocking between charters to ensure a swift and efficient transition for the next guests.
Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Proficiency in boat handling, including docking, anchoring, and line handling.
- Knowledge of basic marine vessel systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing).
- Current First Aid & CPR certification.
- Competency with VHF radio communication protocols and etiquette.
- Ability to perform basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks.
- Familiarity with navigation rules ("Rules of the Road") and local waterway knowledge.
- State-issued Boater Education Card or equivalent certification is a strong plus.

Experience Requirements
Typical Experience Range: 1-3 years in a relevant role.
