Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Design, execute, and analyze complex, multi-method research studies (both qualitative and quantitative) to uncover user motivations, pain points, and decision-making processes.
  • Analyze large-scale behavioral data sets, including clickstream data, telemetry, and user event logs, to identify significant patterns, user segments, and behavioral trends.
  • Translate intricate research findings and statistical outputs into clear, concise, and actionable insights for diverse stakeholders, including executive leadership, product managers, and engineers.
  • Develop and champion a deep understanding of the user journey, creating and validating data-backed personas, behavioral archetypes, and mental models.
  • Lead the end-to-end process of designing and implementing A/B/n tests and other controlled experiments to evaluate hypotheses and measure the causal impact of new features on user engagement and retention.
  • Synthesize data from multiple sources (e.g., surveys, analytics, interviews, market research) to build a holistic and comprehensive view of the user experience.
  • Collaborate closely with product and design teams to frame research questions, define success metrics, and embed behavioral insights directly into the product development lifecycle.
  • Own the creation and delivery of compelling presentations and research reports that effectively communicate the "so what" of your findings to drive strategic decisions.
  • Apply principles from psychology, behavioral economics, and cognitive science to interpret user behavior and recommend interventions or design changes that encourage desired actions.

  • Proactively identify and investigate key business questions and user behavior puzzles through exploratory data analysis and research.
  • Act as a key thought partner to leadership, providing a behavioral science perspective on long-term strategy and new market opportunities.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and automated reports to monitor key behavioral metrics and democratize access to user insights across the organization.
  • Evaluate and recommend new research tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance the team's capabilities in understanding human behavior.
  • Mentor junior researchers and analysts, fostering a culture of rigorous research, intellectual curiosity, and data-informed empathy.
  • Partner with data engineering to define data requirements and ensure the integrity and accessibility of behavioral data streams.
  • Stay current with academic research and industry trends in human-computer interaction, behavioral science, and data analytics to bring fresh perspectives to the team.
  • Drive the creation of a centralized knowledge repository for user research and behavioral insights, making findings easily accessible to the entire company.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Advanced SQL: Proficiency in writing complex queries to extract and manipulate data from large relational databases (e.g., using window functions, CTEs).
  • Statistical Programming: Strong command of Python (with pandas, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn) or R for statistical analysis, modeling, and data wrangling.
  • Data Visualization: Expertise in creating clear and insightful visualizations and dashboards using tools like Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or Python/R libraries (Matplotlib, Seaborn).

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
