Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Operate and meticulously monitor the performance of high-pressure hydrolysis systems and associated equipment, including conveyors, pumps, and dryers, via a Human-Machine Interface (HMI) or control panel.
  • Precisely regulate and adjust process variables such as temperature, steam pressure, processing time, and material flow rates to meet strict product specifications and quality standards.
  • Execute systematic start-up and shut-down procedures for the hydrolysis equipment, ensuring all steps are followed in the correct sequence to prevent equipment damage and safety incidents.
  • Conduct routine visual inspections and operational checks on all machinery within the hydrolysis area, identifying and reporting any potential malfunctions, leaks, or signs of wear.
  • Collect in-process material samples at predetermined intervals for laboratory analysis, ensuring the samples are representative of the batch and are handled according to quality control protocols.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate operational logs, production records, and data sheets, documenting cycle times, batch numbers, yields, and any deviations from standard operating procedures.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks, such as lubrication, filter changes, and minor adjustments, to maximize equipment uptime and operational reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve common operational issues and equipment alarms, applying logical problem-solving skills to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all company and regulatory safety protocols, including the diligent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and the execution of Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures during maintenance and cleaning.
  • Manage the loading of raw materials into the system and the transfer of finished product to storage silos or the next processing stage, ensuring efficient material handling.
  • Monitor and manage the levels of processing chemicals and additives, ensuring adequate supply and safe handling according to Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Uphold stringent sanitation and housekeeping standards within the work area, performing regular clean-up of equipment and floors to maintain a safe and GMP-compliant environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with the maintenance department to diagnose complex mechanical or electrical issues and to facilitate timely and efficient repairs.
  • Interpret readings from gauges, meters, and computer displays to verify that the hydrolysis process is operating within the required tolerances and parameters.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to system emergencies, such as pressure spikes or equipment failures, by initiating emergency shutdown procedures and notifying supervision immediately.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist the maintenance team with more extensive repairs, equipment overhauls, and installations during scheduled plant shutdowns.
  • Actively participate in plant-wide safety committees, continuous improvement projects, and lean manufacturing initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and workplace safety.
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to new or less experienced operators, guiding them on standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety practices, and quality checks.
  • Manage inventory levels of essential operational supplies, such as cleaning agents, lubricants, and minor spare parts, submitting purchase requisitions as necessary.
  • Support Quality Assurance by providing detailed feedback on material consistency and process deviations to help refine production standards.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • High-Pressure Vessel Operation: Proficient in operating and understanding the principles of high-pressure and high-temperature industrial equipment.
