Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Diligently monitor and manage all aspects of the hydroponic growing systems (e.g., NFT, DWC, Ebb and Flow), ensuring they are operating efficiently and effectively to support optimal plant growth.
  • Prepare, mix, and meticulously manage nutrient solutions, conducting daily tests for pH, electrical conductivity (EC), and temperature, and making precise adjustments based on crop stage and system requirements.
  • Execute daily crop maintenance tasks including seeding, transplanting, pruning, trellising, and de-leafing according to detailed production schedules and best practices to maximize yield and quality.
  • Proactively scout for pests, diseases, and nutritional deficiencies, accurately identifying issues and implementing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies and other corrective actions.
  • Oversee and adjust automated environmental control systems to maintain ideal conditions for temperature, humidity, CO2 levels, and lighting (photoperiod and intensity).
  • Perform harvesting, trimming, and post-harvest handling of crops, ensuring adherence to strict quality standards and food safety protocols for packing and storage.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate daily logs and digital records of all growing activities, including environmental data, nutrient recipes, pest observations, and crop yields.
  • Calibrate, clean, and maintain a wide range of agricultural equipment and sensors, including pH/EC meters, environmental sensors, dosers, and irrigation components.
  • Perform routine system maintenance and basic troubleshooting on mechanical equipment such as pumps, plumbing, irrigation lines, and filtration systems to prevent downtime.
  • Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the grow facility, including regular cleaning of grow trays, reservoirs, tools, and work surfaces to prevent contamination.
  • Manage the inventory of essential consumables, including seeds, growing media, nutrients, and pest control agents, and communicate restocking needs to the supply chain manager.
  • Follow all established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cultivation, sanitation, and safety to ensure operational consistency and compliance.
  • Operate and sometimes assist in programming automated machinery related to seeding, transplanting, and harvesting processes.
  • Analyze plant health and performance data to identify trends, pinpoint potential issues, and contribute insights for process improvement and yield optimization.
  • Ensure the efficient and sustainable use of critical resources, particularly water, nutrients, and energy, by monitoring consumption and minimizing waste.

Secondary Functions

  • Support research and development (R&D) trials by executing experimental protocols, collecting data, and providing feedback on new cultivars, nutrient formulas, or growing techniques.
  • Assist in training new team members, providing guidance on SOPs, safety procedures, and the practical execution of daily cultivation tasks.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational workflows and SOPs by providing practical, on-the-ground feedback and suggestions.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to diagnose and resolve more complex equipment or system failures.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, providing updates on crop status, operational challenges, and progress toward production goals.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Hydroponic System Management: Strong practical knowledge of various hydroponic systems and their operational requirements.
  • Nutrient & Water Quality Management: Proficiency in measuring, interpreting, and adjusting pH, EC, and dissolved oxygen levels in nutrient solutions.
  • Plant Health Diagnostics: The ability to visually identify common plant pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
  • Integrated Pest Management (IPM): Experience with the principles and application of IPM, including the use of beneficial insects and bio-pesticides.
  • Environmental Control Systems: Familiarity with operating and monitoring automated climate control systems (HVAC, lighting, humidity).

Educational Background
