Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Guest Engagement: Greet every customer with a genuine smile and a warm, friendly welcome, setting a positive tone for their visit.
  • Flavor Expertise: Develop a deep knowledge of all ice cream flavors, ingredients, and potential allergens to confidently answer customer questions and make personalized recommendations.
  • Sampling: Proactively and cheerfully offer samples to guests, guiding them through the flavor journey to help them find their perfect match.
  • Order Fulfillment: Skillfully scoop and serve ice cream, gelato, and sorbet into cups or cones, ensuring portion sizes are consistent and presentation is neat.
  • Menu Creation: Expertly prepare a variety of menu items beyond simple scoops, such as sundaes, milkshakes, floats, and specialty desserts, following recipes with precision.
  • Point of Sale Management: Accurately and efficiently process customer orders and payments using a POS system, including handling cash, credit cards, and gift cards.
  • Upselling and Suggestive Selling: Enhance the customer experience by suggesting complementary items like waffle cones, specialty toppings, or take-home pints.
  • Maintaining Ambiance: Ensure the front-of-house, including the service counter, seating area, and glass display, is immaculately clean, organized, and inviting at all times.

  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Uphold stringent health and safety standards by regularly cleaning and sanitizing all work surfaces, utensils, dipping cabinets, and shared spaces.
  • Dishwashing: Maintain a steady flow of clean dishes and utensils by washing, sanitizing, and properly storing them throughout the shift.
  • Inventory Assistance: Assist management with tracking inventory levels of ice cream tubs, toppings, and paper goods, communicating when items are running low.

Typical Experience Range:

0-2 years. This is an excellent entry-level position.
