Primary Functions
- Create photorealistic, original digital paintings of environments, elements, and textures for seamless integration into live-action footage or 3D scenes.
- Develop and paint high-resolution, complex texture maps (e.g., diffuse, specular, normal, displacement) for 3D characters, props, and environments to achieve the desired look.

- Utilize 2.5D and 3D projection techniques within Nuke, Fusion, or other compositing software to create parallax, depth, and immersion in painted environments.
- Generate concept paintings, mood boards, and style frames to help establish the visual direction and atmosphere for key sequences, providing a clear blueprint for asset creation.
- Design and paint user interface (UI) elements, heads-up displays (HUDs), and motion graphics components for interactive media or on-screen fictional displays.
- Master the process of UV unwrapping and layout for complex 3D models to ensure efficient, non-distorted, and high-quality texture application.
- Integrate painted elements and textures into the live-action or CG production pipeline, ensuring correct color space, resolution, and formatting for downstream departments.
- Create and manage a library of tiling textures, decals, and reusable painted assets to streamline the production workflow and maintain visual consistency across the project.
- Troubleshoot and solve complex creative and technical challenges related to image manipulation, color matching, and element integration under tight production deadlines.
- Actively participate in daily reviews and creative critiques, effectively articulating your artistic process and professionally incorporating feedback from leads and supervisors.
- Research and gather high-quality photographic reference material to inform the creation of believable and visually compelling textures, materials, and environments.
- Maintain and apply a deep, practical understanding of light, color theory, advanced composition, and real-world perspective to produce aesthetically pleasing and physically accurate imagery.
- Work closely with the lighting department to ensure that all painted textures and matte paintings respond realistically and appropriately to various CG lighting conditions.
- Develop and refine procedural texturing workflows using software like Substance 3D Designer to create efficient, flexible, and highly customizable material libraries.
- Perform detailed character and creature texture painting, including skin, hair, fur, and clothing, to achieve a high level of realism, personality, and narrative detail.
- Take complete ownership of assigned shots and assets from initial briefing through to final delivery, ensuring all artistic and technical notes are addressed with precision.
- Translate 2D concept art into fully realized 3D textured assets while preserving the original artistic intent, silhouette, and specific design language.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of the studio's painting and texturing pipeline by testing new software and proposing innovative, more efficient techniques.
- Generate multiple versions and iterations of artwork based on client and director feedback, demonstrating creative flexibility and a steadfast commitment to achieving the project's vision.

- Strong, production-proven experience with 3D texturing software such as Adobe Substance 3D Painter and/or Foundry Mari.
- Demonstrable skill in high-end digital matte painting (DMP), set extension, and environment creation techniques.
- Proficiency with 2.5D projection workflows within a node-based compositing environment like Foundry Nuke or Blackmagic Fusion.
