- Safely lift, move, stack and place pallets, crates and oversized loads while adhering to specified load capacities, center-of-gravity rules and securement procedures to prevent damage or accidents.
- Perform thorough pre‑shift and post‑shift forklift inspections, identify mechanical issues or safety hazards, document deficiencies, and coordinate with maintenance for timely repairs to minimize downtime.
- Accurately pick and stage order pallets by following pick tickets, packing lists or RF scanner instructions, and verify SKU, quantity and lot numbers prior to loading.
- Use warehouse management systems (WMS), RF barcode scanners, handheld mobile computers or ERP modules (e.g., SAP/Oracle/Manhattan) to update inventory transactions in real-time.
- Load and secure freight for long-haul, LTL and parcel carriers using straps, shrink-wrap, load bars and dunnage while ensuring compliance with carrier and DOT regulations.
- Unload inbound deliveries using forklifts and pallet jacks, inspect shipments for damage or discrepancies, document exceptions, and escalate issues to supervisors or receiving clerks.
- Conduct safe operation of forklifts on ramps, dock plates and uneven surfaces by adjusting speed, load orientation and driving posture to maintain stability and prevent tip-overs.
- Rotate and change forklift batteries, perform electrolyte checks, and charge or service power units according to battery room procedures and lockout/tagout policies.
- Execute cycle counts and support monthly or quarterly inventory audits by accurately keeping records, isolating count areas and identifying root causes of variances.
- Assist with kitting, palletizing and repalletizing of product per production or packing schedules, ensuring product protection and shipping accuracy.

- Coordinate multi-operator lifts, tandem operations or assisted load moves with spotters and signalers to handle oversized or heavy loads safely.
- Support seasonal peak volume operations by working flexible schedules, overtime and cross-training in related warehouse tasks such as receiving, shipping, and order fulfillment.
- Follow yield and quality control checks for fragile or high-value goods, ensuring damage prevention during transport, staging and storage.
- Utilize handheld devices to scan lot numbers, expiration dates and serial numbers, ensuring traceability for inventory controlled or serialized product lines.
Secondary Functions
- Assist with preventive maintenance tasks like greasing lift components, checking tire wear, and reporting battery room ventilation issues to maintenance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing operator feedback on layout changes, pallet flow, and equipment needs to increase throughput.
- Help prepare product for returns processing, quarantine, or rework areas and document disposition per returns policy.
