Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Expertly operate and control a bank of multiple increaser knitting machines simultaneously to produce high-quality hosiery and textile products according to precise production specifications.
- Load and thread yarn cones, ensuring correct colors, types, and tensions are used for each production run as detailed in the work order.
- Continuously monitor machine operation to detect malfunctions, such as needle breaks, yarn snaps, or mechanical jams, and take immediate corrective action to minimize downtime.
- Conduct frequent in-process quality inspections of garments as they are produced, identifying and flagging defects like dropped stitches, holes, or incorrect sizing to prevent waste.
- Perform routine machine adjustments and fine-tuning to control garment dimensions, patterns, and overall quality based on technical specifications.
- Systematically replace worn or broken needles, sinkers, and other small mechanical parts to maintain optimal machine performance and product quality.
- Read and interpret complex work orders, pattern charts, and technical instructions to correctly set up machines for new production runs.
- Meticulously clean machines, including blowing down lint and wiping away oil, to prevent fabric contamination and ensure smooth mechanical operation.
- Doff (remove) completed sets of knitted goods from the machines in a timely manner to prepare for the next production cycle.
- Accurately record production data, including number of units produced, machine downtime, and scrap rates, using a manual log or digital interface.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) when performing maintenance or clearing jams.
- Collaborate with knitting technicians and maintenance staff to troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical or electrical issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area around your assigned machines, contributing to a culture of safety and efficiency.
- Inspect incoming raw materials like yarn for defects or inconsistencies that could impact the quality of the final product.
- Strive to consistently meet or exceed established production targets and efficiency goals for your shift.
- Change out machine setups efficiently, minimizing the time between different production styles or sizes.
- Identify and segregate non-conforming products into designated bins, properly documenting the reason for the defect.
- Communicate effectively with shift supervisors and team members regarding production status, material needs, and any operational challenges.
- Assist in performing preventative maintenance tasks as scheduled to prolong the life and reliability of the equipment.
- Develop a deep understanding of how different yarn types and machine settings interact to affect the final product's look and feel.
Secondary Functions
- Assist maintenance technicians with more complex repairs and preventative maintenance schedules by providing operational insights.
- Train and mentor new or less experienced machine operators on standard operating procedures and safety protocols.

Experience Requirements
Typical Experience Range:
