The Warehouse Associate is a cornerstone of our logistics and supply chain operations. This role is fundamentally responsible for the physical handling, organization, and movement of goods from their arrival at our facility to their final dispatch to customers or other locations. Operating within a structured, fast-paced indoor environment, the Warehouse Associate ensures that inventory is accurately managed, orders are fulfilled efficiently, and safety standards are rigorously upheld. Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Accurately and efficiently pick customer orders for shipment, ensuring that the correct number and type of product is loaded and shipped.
  • Securely package a variety of products for shipping, selecting appropriate packing materials to prevent damage during transit.
  • Receive, unload, and meticulously place incoming inventory items in their designated storage locations within the warehouse.
  • Operate and maintain warehouse vehicles and equipment, such as pallet jacks and hand trucks, in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Perform ongoing inventory controls and keep quality standards high for audits by counting, weighing, and recording item information.
  • Utilize Radio Frequency (RF) scanners and other warehouse technology to scan and track inventory movements from receiving to shipping.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment by keeping shelves, pallet areas, and workstations neat and complying with all safety procedures.
  • Load and unload delivery trucks and shipping containers, both manually and with the use of material handling equipment.
  • Verify the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments by comparing them against bills of lading, invoices, or other records.
  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, or product code.
  • Process, package, and prepare orders for delivery or pickup according to a daily schedule, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Inspect products for defects, damages, and notable imperfections prior to packing or stowing them in inventory.
  • Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves, or convey orders to the packing station or shipping department.
  • Mark materials with identifying information, such as labels or inventory tags, using the appropriate methods and tools.
  • Diligently follow all established quality service standards and comply with company procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contribute to the overall team effort by accomplishing related results and providing support to coworkers as needed.
  • Efficiently stack and organize bulk goods and pallets in their designated areas to maximize warehouse space.
  • Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed via a computerized inventory system or manual logs.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and assist in full physical inventory counts to ensure system and physical stock levels are aligned.
  • Prepare and print shipping labels corresponding to shipping needs, ensuring they are affixed to the correct packages.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist in training new associates on standard warehouse procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
  • Report any discrepancies in inventory, equipment malfunctions, or potential safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
  • Participate in periodic team meetings to discuss performance metrics, operational challenges, and strategies for improvement.
  • Handle and process returned products by inspecting their condition and routing them to the appropriate department or restocking location.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • RF Scanner Operation: Proficient in using handheld RF scanners for picking, packing, and inventory tracking.
  • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS): Basic ability to interact with WMS software for order processing and inventory lookups.
  • Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Operation: Experience operating manual pallet jacks, dollies, and hand trucks.
  • Basic Math and Counting: Strong ability to perform simple arithmetic for counting inventory and verifying order quantities.
  • Shipping & Receiving Processes: Foundational understanding of the workflow for inbound and outbound logistics.
  • Workplace Safety Procedures: Knowledge of basic safety protocols (e.g., proper lifting techniques, hazard awareness).
  • Data Entry: Ability to accurately input inventory data, order information, and tracking numbers into a computer system.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • 0-2 years of experience in a warehouse, distribution center, or similar environment.

Preferred:

  • 1+ years of direct experience in an order fulfillment or distribution role. Previous experience using an RF scanner and working within a Warehouse Management System (WMS) is highly desirable.
