Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Interpret and execute work based on complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and sketches to determine project specifications and calculate material requirements.
Construct, erect, install, and brace intricate wooden and metal concrete forms for foundations, walls, columns, slabs, and other structural elements.
Measure, cut, shape, and assemble materials such as lumber, plywood, engineered wood products, and light-gauge steel for structural and non-structural applications.
Perform heavy timber framing, installation, and repair for industrial structures, support systems, and access ways.
Build, modify, and dismantle various types of scaffolding, shoring, and temporary platforms to ensure safe access for all trades.
Operate a wide range of hand and power tools, including circular saws, table saws, nail guns, drills, and planers, ensuring they are in safe and efficient working order.
Verify the accuracy and structural integrity of work using levels, plumb bobs, laser levels, and framing squares to meet exacting tolerances.
Install heavy-duty doors, frames, windows, and industrial hardware in various facility structures.
Perform structural repairs and modifications to existing wooden frameworks, supports, and fixtures within active industrial plants.
Anchor and brace components to steel and concrete surfaces, ensuring stability and load-bearing capacity.
Fabricate custom jigs, templates, and supports needed for unique construction or installation tasks.

Secondary Functions

Adhere strictly to all company and OSHA safety protocols, participate in daily safety meetings (Toolbox Talks), and proactively identify and mitigate job site hazards.
Coordinate and collaborate with other trade professionals, including ironworkers, concrete finishers, and pipefitters, to ensure seamless project workflow.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including the proper management and disposal of scrap materials and debris.
Assist in planning and laying out carpentry work, providing input on task sequencing and potential challenges.
Inspect and maintain all assigned tools and equipment, reporting any defects or needs for repair to the supervisor.
Guide and mentor apprentice carpenters, sharing knowledge of trade-specific techniques and safety practices.
Construct protective barriers, enclosures, and temporary shelters for equipment and personnel.
