Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Lead and manage the entire project lifecycle for large-scale industrial projects, including new equipment installation, facility expansions, production line modifications, and infrastructure upgrades, from conception to final commissioning and closeout.
  • Develop comprehensive project charters, scopes of work, and execution plans, clearly defining project goals, deliverables, timelines, resource requirements, and success metrics.
  • Create and meticulously manage detailed project schedules using critical path methodology and tools like MS Project or Primavera P6, proactively identifying and mitigating potential delays.
  • Establish and control project budgets, performing cost estimation, tracking expenditures, managing cash flow, and implementing rigorous cost-control measures to deliver projects within financial targets.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential technical, financial, and operational risks, and develop robust mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on project delivery.
  • Serve as the primary point of communication for all project stakeholders, including executive leadership, plant management, engineering teams, vendors, and external contractors, providing regular, clear, and concise status updates.
  • Manage the procurement and contracting process, including developing RFPs/RFQs, evaluating vendor bids, negotiating contracts, and overseeing contractor performance to ensure compliance with scope, safety, and quality standards.
  • Champion and enforce stringent safety protocols (EHS) on all project sites, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards to maintain a zero-incident work environment.
  • Coordinate and lead cross-functional project teams, including mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers, as well as operations and maintenance personnel, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Oversee the detailed design and engineering phases, ensuring that designs meet operational requirements, regulatory codes, and industry best practices.
  • Manage on-site construction and installation activities, supervising contractors and ensuring that work is executed according to plans, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Plan and direct the commissioning and startup of new equipment and systems, developing test plans and ensuring a smooth transition to the operations team with minimal disruption.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive project documentation system, including drawings, specifications, change orders, meeting minutes, and closeout reports, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
  • Implement and manage a formal change order process to control project scope, evaluating the impact of changes on schedule and budget before approval.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and business case analyses for proposed capital projects, providing critical data to support executive investment decisions.
  • Drive value engineering initiatives to optimize project cost and functionality without sacrificing quality or safety.
  • Resolve complex technical and logistical issues that arise during project execution, employing strong problem-solving skills to keep the project on track.
  • Facilitate project post-mortems and lessons-learned sessions to drive continuous improvement in project management processes and organizational knowledge.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Proficiency in Project Management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6, Smartsheet).
  • Strong financial acumen, with expertise in budget management, cost forecasting, and capital expenditure (CAPEX) justification.
  • Deep understanding of industrial safety regulations (OSHA) and environmental compliance.
