Primary Functions

  • Design, plan and execute multi-method research projects โ€” including primary research (surveys, structured interviews, focus groups) and secondary research (literature reviews, industry reports, regulatory filings) โ€” to answer strategic business questions and inform decision-making.

  • Produce clear, evidence-backed executive summaries, briefing memos and slide decks that synthesize complex information into concise recommendations for C-suite and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Monitor competitive landscapes and perform ongoing competitor profiling, benchmarking, product mapping, and filings analysis to surface threats, opportunities and strategic moves in market segments.
  • Conduct trend analysis and horizon scanning to identify emerging technologies, regulatory changes and market shifts that could impact product strategy, go-to-market plans or risk posture.
  • Design and administer quantitative surveys and structured instruments; analyze survey data using statistical software (e.g., R, Python, SPSS) and present statistically valid insights and confidence intervals.
  • Perform qualitative analysis on interviews, focus groups and open-text responses leveraging thematic coding, affinity mapping and narrative synthesis to surface customer needs and pain points.
  • Maintain and curate research repositories, knowledge bases and taxonomy systems to ensure research outputs are discoverable, reusable and GDPR/privacy compliant.
  • Collaborate with product, strategy, legal and compliance teams to translate information needs into research scopes, hypotheses and prioritized analytic plans.
  • Validate and triangulate data by cross-referencing multiple sources, identifying contradictions, and escalating ambiguous or high-risk findings for peer review.
  • Create and maintain standardized research templates, provenance logs and reproducible workflows to increase efficiency and auditability across projects.
  • Perform stakeholder interviews and subject-matter expert (SME) consultations, preparing interview guides, capturing structured notes and converting qualitative input into actionable conclusions.
  • Build and maintain automated monitoring dashboards and alerting systems (using tools like Power BI, Tableau, Google Alerts, RSS, APIs) to provide near-real-time situational awareness on prioritized topics.
  • Prepare regulatory, patent and academic literature reviews to support product roadmaps, intellectual property strategy and compliance assessments.
  • Lead cross-functional research initiatives and coordinate vendor-managed research, ensuring deliverables meet scope, budget and timeline expectations.
  • Assess information credibility and risk, applying source evaluation frameworks and documenting confidence levels for each key finding to inform decision thresholds.
  • Translate research findings into targeted competitive intelligence briefs, go-to-market input, risk registers and scenario planning materials for senior leadership.
  • Train colleagues and stakeholders on best practices for information hygiene, search techniques, database use and basic research literacy to democratize insight generation across the organization.
  • Manage multiple concurrent research projects with clear prioritization, milestone planning and transparent status reporting to stakeholders.
  • Draft press and media monitoring reports, reputation analyses and crisis intelligence summaries when rapid situational updates are required.
  • Ensure ethical handling of sensitive information, compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and adherence to corporate information security policies when collecting and storing research data.
  • Continuously evaluate and recommend new research tools, data sources, APIs and methodologies to improve research quality, speed and coverage.
