Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop and formulate new ink products for different printing technologies, including offset, flexographic, gravure, screen, and digital inkjet applications.
  • Optimize existing ink formulations to improve performance, cost-efficiency, and environmental compliance.
  • Conduct rheological, colorimetric, and stability testing on ink samples to ensure quality consistency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in R&D, production, and quality assurance to align on formulation specifications.
  • Design and execute laboratory-scale experiments and pilot-scale trials for new product development.
  • Troubleshoot ink performance issues related to viscosity, adhesion, color density, or drying time.
  • Develop eco-friendly and water-based ink formulations to meet sustainability goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of formulation data, material safety, and testing results.
  • Evaluate raw materials from suppliers and perform compatibility and performance assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with global regulatory requirements such as REACH, RoHS, and GHS.
  • Support production scale-up and transfer of formulations from lab to manufacturing.
  • Use analytical instruments (e.g., spectrophotometer, viscometer, particle size analyzer) to characterize inks.
  • Work with printing teams to conduct real-world trials and evaluate end-use performance.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives in formulation processes and raw material selection.
  • Collaborate with customers and technical sales teams to provide product recommendations and technical support.
  • Lead failure analysis and corrective actions related to ink performance or production issues.
  • Develop documentation for technical data sheets (TDS) and safety data sheets (SDS).
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and materials in pigment, resin, and dispersant chemistry.
  • Support cost reduction and supply chain optimization through material reformulation.
  • Participate in innovation projects involving nanomaterials, conductive inks, or UV-curable systems.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis.
  • Contribute to the organization's data strategy and roadmap.
  • Collaborate with business units to translate data needs into engineering requirements.
  • Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies within the data engineering team.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Proficiency in ink formulation, pigment dispersion, and rheological control.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
