Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Lead end-to-end opportunity discovery by conducting market scans, competitive intelligence, technology scouting, and customer validation to build a prioritized innovation pipeline aligned to strategic company objectives.
  • Develop detailed business cases and financial models (revenue forecasts, cost structures, ROI and payback analysis) to evaluate and prioritize new product, service, partnership and venture opportunities.
  • Source, qualify and engage startups, technology providers, academic labs and ecosystem partners; manage outreach, NDA processes, and initial technical and commercial due diligence to evaluate fit and feasibility.
  • Design and run pilot programs and Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) including defining objectives, success metrics (KPIs), timelines, resource requirements, and go/no-go decision points for scaling.
  • Drive commercial negotiations and structure complex partnership agreements, licensing arrangements, joint ventures, reseller and co-marketing deals, ensuring alignment with internal legal, procurement and finance teams.
  • Build and execute go-to-market strategies for validated innovations, coordinating product, marketing, sales, and customer success teams to create pricing, positioning, channel strategies and launch plans.
  • Translate technical capabilities and product roadmaps into clear commercial propositions; craft pitch decks, one-pagers, and executive presentations tailored to internal decision makers and external partners.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement across C-level sponsors, R&D, product, sales, marketing and operations to secure buy-in, funding, and operational support for pilots and scale-up initiatives.
  • Create and maintain dashboards and performance reporting to track pilot outcomes, revenue impact, KPIs, milestone attainment and learning; provide regular update packs to executive leadership.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams and coordinate external resources (consultants, incubators, service providers) to deliver projects on time and within budget while applying agile and lean innovation methodologies.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial, regulatory and operational risks associated with new initiatives by collaborating with legal, compliance, security and regulatory teams early in the project lifecycle.
  • Negotiate commercial terms including pricing, revenue share, exclusivity, IP ownership, and termination clauses; work with legal to operationalize contracts and SOWs.
  • Define and implement commercialization pathways (build, buy, partner, license or spin-out) and recommend the optimal approach based on strategic fit, time-to-market, and financial return.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts and P&L impact for innovation initiatives; secure internal funding and track spend against approved innovation investment pools.
  • Lead customer discovery and continuous feedback loops with pilot customers to iterate on product features, service design, pricing and go-to-market assumptions.
  • Create and run internal innovation programs such as accelerators, hackathons, proof-of-concept (POC) tracks and incubation initiatives to attract new ideas and foster intrapreneurship.
  • Represent the company externally at industry conferences, investor demos, and partner events to source opportunities, raise the company’s innovation profile, and cultivate strategic relationships.
  • Develop IP and licensing strategies in collaboration with legal and R&D teams to protect inventions and to structure commercially attractive licensing arrangements where appropriate.
  • Build strategic alliances and channel partnerships to extend market reach, accelerate adoption and enable scalable distribution and implementation for new offerings.
  • Oversee post-pilot scale plans including operational integration, change management, go-to-scale resourcing, and readiness assessments for sales and delivery organizations.
  • Mentor and coach junior business development and innovation staff, sharing best practices for deal structuring, pilot execution, and stakeholder management to build organizational capability.
  • Coordinate cross-border opportunities by navigating international regulatory, tax and commercial considerations where pilots or partnerships span multiple markets.
  • Design incentive structures, revenue-sharing models and commercial KPIs to align partner performance with business objectives and customer outcomes.
  • Capture learnings, write detailed post-mortems and playbooks for repeatable commercialization processes to institutionalize what worked and reduce time-to-scale for future initiatives.
