  • Conduct customer discovery through qualitative interviews, contextual inquiry, and usability testing, synthesizing insights to inform product direction and user personas.
  • Translate business objectives and user insights into technical requirements, product specifications, clickable prototypes, proof-of-concepts (PoCs), and engineering backlogs.
  • Build rapid prototypes using no-code/low-code platforms, front-end libraries, or hardware mock-ups to validate hypotheses quickly and with minimal cost.
  • Design, execute, and analyze A/B tests, pilots, and field trials; measure outcomes using KPIs and convert results into business cases and scaling recommendations.
  • Create robust business models and financial modeling for new initiatives, including revenue projections, cost estimates, and go-to-market strategies to support investment decisions.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies (AI/ML, IoT, AR/VR, blockchain, cloud-native architectures) for applicability, build technical feasibility assessments, and propose integration approaches.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to define technical architectures, APIs, data flows, and security/privacy considerations required for scaling prototypes into production.
  • Own product roadmaps for proof-of-concept initiatives, prioritize features based on customer value and technical risk, and manage iterative delivery through Agile methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for experiments, prototypes, decision logs, learnings, and IP considerations to support knowledge transfer and scaling.
  • Prepare and deliver persuasive presentations, demo days, and stakeholder briefings (executive sponsors, investors, or internal leaders) to secure funding and support.
  • Manage external partnerships, vendors, and potential startup alliances for joint pilots, technology licensing, or co-development arrangements.
  • Design and implement measurement frameworks and analytics events to capture user behavior, funnel metrics, and retention drivers during pilot programs.
  • Mentor and coach junior product designers, engineers, and innovation associates on prototyping best practices, experimentation techniques, and rapid validation methods.
  • Coordinate regulatory, compliance, and privacy reviews for new product concepts—ensuring ethical data practices and alignment with corporate governance.
  • Drive continuous improvement: harvest learnings from failed experiments, institutionalize best practices, and evolve the innovation playbook across the organization.
  • Produce detailed technical and non-technical artifacts (technical requirements, mockups, pitch decks, product spec docs, ROI analyses) to facilitate cross-team execution.
  • Translate validated MVPs into handoff assets for scaling teams: create prioritized feature backlogs, acceptance criteria, and implementation plans.
  • Act as a champion for customer-centric innovation across the company—evangelizing insights, demoing prototypes, and creating momentum for strategic change.
  • Lead or support grant proposals, internal innovation funding requests, or venture-style pitch processes to secure resources for high-potential initiatives.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive offerings, and adjacent industry innovations to proactively surface new opportunities and threat signals.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis.
  • Contribute to the organization's data strategy and roadmap.
  • Collaborate with business units to translate data needs into engineering requirements.
  • Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies within the data engineering team.
