Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop and own the enterprise-wide innovation strategy that aligns with corporate objectives, market trends, and technological opportunity, and translate that strategy into a multiyear innovation roadmap with prioritized initiatives and measurable KPIs.
  • Lead opportunity discovery and strategic portfolio planning by conducting market analysis, technology scouting, customer insights, and competitor benchmarking to identify high-impact white spaces for product, service, and business model innovation.
  • Design and manage an innovation governance framework (stage-gate, innovation funnel, or lean experimentation pipeline) that balances strategic risk, resource allocation, and time-to-value across early-stage experiments to scale-up programs.
  • Build, manage, and mentor cross-functional innovation squads or pods (product, design, engineering, finance, commercialization) and ensure clear ownership, rapid learning cycles, and demonstrable progress toward validated outcomes.
  • Run end-to-end innovation delivery including ideation workshops, rapid prototyping, user testing, minimum viable product (MVP) development, pilot deployments, and commercialization planning with clear metrics for success and go/no-go decisions.
  • Establish and run an open innovation program including startup scouting, corporate venturing, accelerator/ incubator partnerships, and strategic alliances to bring external capability, co-creation opportunities, and potential acquisitions into the corporate innovation funnel.
  • Design and implement experimentation and measurement frameworks (A/B testing, cohort analysis, usage analytics, business-case simulations) to validate customer demand, unit economics, and scalability before committing significant capital.
  • Create business cases, financial models, and investment proposals for innovation initiatives, working closely with finance to secure funding, set investment criteria, and track ROI and payback timelines.
  • Evangelize innovation internally and externally: create compelling narratives, stakeholder presentations, executive briefings, and town-hall communications that secure sponsorship and maintain momentum for cross-organizational initiatives.
  • Integrate digital and emerging technologies (AI/ML, IoT, blockchain, cloud, edge computing, AR/VR) into innovation scenarios and evaluate their applicability, technical feasibility, and ethical implications for business use cases.
  • Lead customer-centric research programs including ethnography, customer journey mapping, design sprints, and feedback loops to ensure product-market fit and prioritize features that drive adoption and retention.
  • Define and track KPIs for the innovation portfolio (e.g., percentage revenue from new products, time-to-market, experiment velocity, conversion rates from pilot to scale) and deliver regular performance reporting to the executive team and board.
  • Manage stakeholder alignment across legal, regulatory, procurement, compliance, and operations to de-risk pilots and accelerate path-to-scale for regulated industries or enterprise customers.
  • Structure and negotiate partnership agreements, IP arrangements, licensing deals, strategic investments, and joint ventures to secure access to capabilities, markets, or technologies.
  • Design incentive and governance mechanisms (OKRs, scorecards, incentives, internal grants) to embed innovation behaviors and reward cross-functional collaboration across business units.
  • Oversee the transition of validated pilots into product management, go-to-market execution and operations, ensuring robust handover plans, technology transfer, supply chain readiness, and commercial scalability.
  • Maintain a living technology and trend radar (short-, mid-, long-term) and synthesize future scenarios that inform strategic bets, resource shifts, and capability building across the organization.
  • Lead talent acquisition, internal capability-building, and training programs (design thinking, lean startup, agile delivery) to raise organization-wide innovation literacy and execution capability.
  • Ensure rigorous risk management and ethical oversight for innovation initiatives, including data governance, privacy, security, regulatory compliance, and alignment with corporate sustainability and ESG commitments.
  • Drive cost optimization and resource efficiency in the innovation pipeline by prioritizing high-impact experiments, reusing components, and leveraging shared platforms and labs.
  • Serve as a senior sponsor for pilot customers and initial commercial references, owning customer relationships that accelerate validation, adoption, and scaled deployment.
  • Coordinate cross-border innovation programs, adapting approaches to local market dynamics while ensuring global standards, integration, and knowledge sharing across geographies.
  • Champion continuous improvement of the innovation process by capturing learnings, institutionalizing playbooks, and iterating on tools, templates, and governance to shorten cycle times and increase hit rates.
  • Prepare and present periodic innovation reviews to senior leadership and the board that highlight strategic insights, portfolio health, financial performance, and recommended strategic pivots.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
