Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Lead end-to-end innovation initiatives: conduct market and competitive analysis, identify unmet customer needs, ideate solution concepts, and define success metrics to move opportunities from discovery to validated pilots.
  • Design and facilitate design thinking and ideation workshops for cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders to generate, prioritize, and co-create viable product and service concepts.
  • Own rapid prototyping and minimum viable product (MVP) development: translate concepts into low- and high-fidelity prototypes, coordinate internal engineering/design resources, and iterate using customer feedback loops.
  • Run structured experimentation programs and A/B tests to validate hypotheses, measure product-market fit, and capture learnings to inform scaling decisions and roadmaps.
  • Develop and maintain an innovation roadmap and portfolio, balancing short-term pilots and long-term strategic bets, and aligning initiatives with corporate strategy and KPIs.
  • Lead customer discovery and user research activities, including interviews, ethnography, surveys, and usability testing, synthesizing insights into actionable user journeys and design requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive business cases, including market sizing, competitor landscape, revenue model options, cost estimates, and ROI analysis to secure funding and executive buy-in.
  • Manage cross-functional project teams and external partners (startups, agencies, academic labs) to accelerate development, governance, and commercialization of innovative solutions.
  • Create clear go-to-market plans for pilots and new products, coordinating product positioning, pricing strategy, channel strategy, launch readiness, and post-launch performance monitoring.
  • Build and track innovation KPIs (e.g., conversion rates, engagement, retention, revenue attribution, NPS) to measure pilot success and inform prioritization decisions and portfolio optimization.
  • Establish and maintain formal innovation processes and governance (stage-gate, gating criteria, experiments backlog) to speed decision-making while reducing risk and duplication.
  • Scout emerging technologies, startups, and partner ecosystems to identify strategic partnerships, investment opportunities, licensing, or acquisition targets that complement internal capabilities.
  • Translate technical feasibility into commercial impact by working closely with engineering and data teams to scope technical work, define success metrics, and ensure data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead pilots in operational settings: design pilot protocols, define sample sizes and success thresholds, manage pilot roll-out, collect outcome data, and present learnings for scaling or sunsetting.
  • Create persuasive presentations and storytelling for C-suite and boards to articulate strategic rationale, progress, risks, and resourcing needs for innovation initiatives.
  • Secure and manage innovation budgets, grants, and external funding where applicable; track spend and ROI across experiments and pilots.
  • Manage intellectual property considerations and collaborate with legal counsel for patent landscape reviews, trademarks, licensing, and confidentiality agreements related to innovative work.
  • Coach and mentor junior members on discovery methods, experimentation best practices, and stakeholder engagement to grow internal innovation capability.
  • Drive internal adoption and change management by creating training materials, playbooks, and communication campaigns that translate pilot learnings into scalable ways of working.
  • Conduct quantitative market research and analyze internal product and usage data to validate hypotheses, segment users, and prioritize features or experiments with the highest potential impact.
  • Coordinate regulatory and compliance assessments early in the innovation lifecycle to anticipate constraints and design compliant solutions in regulated industries.
  • Facilitate open innovation activities including hackathons, idea challenges, and accelerator programs to source new ideas and engage employees and external innovators.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of experiments, decisions, and artifacts so that learnings are shareable and reproducible across teams and future initiatives.
  • Identify and remediate operational or organizational barriers to scaling successful innovations, working with PMO, IT, and operations to enable handoffs and sustainable implementation.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Design, Computer Science, Marketing, or a related field.
