- Validate and maintain inspection checklists, templates and digital inspection workflows in the organization’s QMS or inspection software to ensure consistency and audit readiness.
- Maintain and improve traceability systems to ensure full product genealogy from raw material certificates through final inspection and delivery documentation.
- Participate in project kickoff and pre-fabrication meetings to define inspection scope, critical dimensions and hold points, and ensure inspection resources and procedures are in place before production starts.
- Oversee packaging and release inspections to ensure finished goods meet shipping and contractual quality requirements, including labeling and documentation completeness.
- Monitor inspection-related budgets (labor, NDT subcontract costs, calibration) and propose cost-saving measures without compromising quality or compliance.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry codes, standards and best practices and incorporate changes into inspection programs and training materials.
Secondary Functions
- Support continuous improvement programs by providing inspection data for root cause analysis, Pareto studies and capability studies (Cp/Cpk).
- Assist in digitization efforts by piloting inspection mobile apps, digital checklists or inspection management systems to reduce paperwork and improve traceability.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings, design reviews and pre-shift briefings to align inspection objectives with production and engineering priorities.
- Support ad-hoc customer technical queries and provide inspection evidence for claims, warranty requests and insurance investigations.
- Contribute to competency matrices, succession planning and recruitment by identifying skill gaps and recommending external training or certification programs.
- Help develop supplier quality agreements, inspection sampling plans and acceptance criteria to improve incoming material quality.
- Conduct periodic refresher training for inspectors on codes, measurement techniques, safe inspection practices and new inspection technologies.
- Collaborate with procurement and logistics to prioritize inspection of critical path items and reduce lead-time impacts from inspection findings.
