Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Perform end-to-end installations of equipment and systems (e.g., structured cabling, fiber optics, security systems, access control, surveillance cameras, network routers/switches, satellite and CATV equipment) in residential and commercial environments, ensuring functional system handover.

- Terminate, splice, and certify copper and fiber optic cables using industry-standard tools and techniques (punch-down, crimp, fusion splicing, mechanical splicing); perform OTDR and power meter testing and interpret results to verify link performance.
- Mount and align antennas, satellite dishes, and RF devices; test signal strength and adjust installations to achieve required reception and SNR levels.
- Install, configure, and program customer-premises equipment (CPE) including modems, routers, switches, wireless access points, VoIP phones, security DVR/NVRs, access control panels, and smart-home devices; apply firmware updates and secure default credentials.
- Perform network configuration tasks: set IP addresses, VLANs, DHCP, routing basics, NAT, port forwarding, and QoS to ensure devices integrate with customer networks and service requirements.
- Conduct comprehensive system tests and acceptance checks (bandwidth/speed tests, signal-to-noise, camera angles, alarm sensor sensitivity, access control functionality) and document test results in work orders.
- Provide on-site customer training: explain system operation, mobile app use, basic troubleshooting steps, and maintenance expectations; gather and document customer sign-off.
- Troubleshoot and resolve installation-related issues in real-time using diagnostic tools (multimeter, cable tester, OTDR, spectrum analyzer) and vendor documentation; escalate complex faults to technical support or engineering teams with clear reproduction steps and logs.
- Ensure all installations comply with NEC, local codes, OSHA safety regulations, and company safety policies; perform ladder safety, fall protection, and confined-space precautions as required.
- Maintain accurate and timely administrative documentation: update job tickets, service orders, as-built diagrams, punch lists, parts usage, time sheets, and warranty information in field management systems.
- Manage parts, spares, and materials inventory in company vehicle; place orders or request replenishment for specialty parts and provide input to procurement on frequently used or failing components.
- Coordinate with dispatch, project managers, general contractors, and site contacts to schedule work, obtain site access, permits, and any required clearances; report schedule impacts proactively.
- Perform basic electrical tasks related to installation such as running power to devices, installing transformers, and making safe low-voltage connections while following electrical safety standards and permitting requirements.
- Test and verify power redundancy (battery backup, UPS) and ground bonding for sensitive equipment; replace batteries and perform preventive maintenance when required.
- Document and photograph completed work and non-conformances; create as-built drawings or update CAD/floor plans where required.
- Participate in post-installation follow-up for service activation, testing, and first-visit issue resolution to meet SLAs and reduce repeat service calls.
- Drive company vehicle safely to and from job sites; ensure vehicle is organized, tools and meters are secured, and required PPE is available and utilized on every job.
- Perform warranty repairs and small-scale service calls related to prior installations, ensuring history and root cause are logged and feedback is provided to reduce recurrence.
- Support new product rollouts and pilot installations by following specific installation scripts, capturing detailed feedback, and reporting fit/gap issues to product management.
- Maintain professional appearance and conduct onsite at all times; represent the company by providing friendly, clear communication and resolving customer concerns promptly.
