Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Evaluate job orders, blueprints, schematics, and site layouts to develop an installation plan that meets project specifications, local codes, and client requirements.
- Measure, mark, and prepare work sites; cut, drill, and assemble materials and components to fit precise installation tolerances and manufacturer specifications.
- Install equipment, fixtures, hardware, cabling, conduits, mounting systems, or panels securely and plumb, using hand tools, power tools, fastening systems, and mechanical anchors appropriate to the substrate.
- Run, route, and terminate electrical wiring and low-voltage cabling safely and accurately, ensuring correct polarity, secure connections, and neat cable management in accordance with electrical and telecom standards.
- Configure, wire, and integrate electronic controls, sensors, inverters, controllers, breakers, and other system components and verify compatibility between devices and power sources.
- Perform system testing, calibration, and commissioning using diagnostic tools, multimeters, clamp meters, and software utilities to validate performance against acceptance criteria.
- Troubleshoot and repair installation issues on site, diagnosing root causes (mechanical, electrical, or configuration) and applying corrective actions to restore full operation.
- Ensure all installations comply with OSHA, local building codes, National Electrical Code (NEC) where applicable, manufacturer installation instructions, and company health and safety policies.
- Complete and submit detailed installation reports, work orders, time sheets, job checklists, and as-built drawings or photos that document final configuration and deviations.
- Coordinate with customers, general contractors, electricians, inspectors, and other trades to sequence work, obtain approvals, and maintain clear communication on timelines and requirements.
- Obtain required permits, coordinate inspections, and accompany inspectors as necessary to demonstrate compliance and secure final signoffs.
- Manage on-site inventory, track and report missing or damaged parts, and request replenishment to prevent project delays and ensure first-time fix rates.
- Operate company vehicles, lift equipment, scissor lifts, ladders, and fall protection systems safely while transporting tools and materials to and from job sites.
- Provide basic training and handover to customers and end-users on system operation, maintenance tips, and warranty procedures to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Mentor and train apprentices and junior installers on installation best practices, safety protocols, and proper use of tools and testing equipment.
- Implement quality control checks at each stage of the installation to identify cosmetic or functional defects and correct them before final handover.
- Coordinate post-installation follow-up, warranty support, and remedial repairs, escalating recurring or systemic issues to supervisors and engineering teams as needed.
- Maintain and inspect personal and company tools and test equipment, perform basic maintenance, and report calibration or repair needs promptly.
- Drive continuous improvement by documenting installation inefficiencies, proposing process improvements, and participating in lessons-learned or job debrief sessions.

- Support inventory control processes by tagging returned components, logging spares, and contributing to stock reconciliation efforts.

Required Skills & Competencies
