  • Produce engaging multimedia assets—voiceover scripts, video storyboards, recorded video lessons, animations, and interactive simulations—either by creating them directly or directing external production partners.
  • Build formative and summative assessments (quizzes, scenario-based checks, rubrics) and create automated feedback and branching logic to support mastery learning and differentiation.
  • Implement accessibility (WCAG) and universal design best practices across learning content, including alt text, transcripts, clear navigation, and keyboard accessibility to serve diverse learner populations.
  • Configure, upload, and maintain courses within LMS platforms (e.g., Moodle, Canvas, Cornerstone, Blackboard) and manage enrollments, completion rules, and certificate issuance.
  • Integrate learning content with learning record stores (LRS) and analytics tools, monitor xAPI/SCORM data, and translate learning analytics into actionable improvements and ROI measures.
  • Lead pilot tests and user acceptance testing (UAT) with representative learners, collect qualitative and quantitative feedback, and iterate course content and UX to improve completion and effectiveness rates.
  • Partner with SMEs to translate technical or domain knowledge into clear, concise, job-relevant learning experiences, maintaining fidelity of the subject matter while optimizing for cognitive load and retention.
  • Design and implement performance support tools—cheat sheets, job aids, quick reference guides, checklists, and searchable microlearning libraries—to reinforce on-the-job application.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocations for multiple simultaneous design and development initiatives, using agile or waterfall delivery models as appropriate.
  • Establish and maintain content governance: version control, metadata tagging, taxonomy, and reusable learning object libraries to improve scalability and discoverability for both users and search/LLM systems.
  • Facilitate virtual, in-person, and hybrid workshops or train-the-trainer sessions to upskill instructors and internal SMEs on course delivery, assessment strategies, and learner engagement techniques.
  • Collaborate with UX designers and product teams to ensure learning workflows integrate seamlessly with product experiences, onboarding flows, and embedded help systems.
  • Maintain and document quality assurance processes and checklists for instructional effectiveness, technical delivery, cross-browser/device compatibility, and LMS tracking accuracy.
  • Create and maintain course evaluation frameworks (Kirkpatrick, KASA, or custom ROI models) and produce executive-level reports tying learning outcomes to business KPIs.
  • Oversee vendor and contractor relationships for multimedia production, voiceover, translation/localization, and LMS support, ensuring contractual SLAs and quality standards are met.
  • Localize and adapt learning materials for international audiences, working with translation vendors and applying cultural adaptation best practices to ensure relevance and legal/regulatory compliance.
  • Keep abreast of emerging learning technologies (adaptive learning, AI-powered tutoring, LLM integration, AR/VR), evaluate vendor tools, and pilot new approaches to enhance learner performance and experience.
  • Create SEO-friendly learning content metadata, structured transcripts, and content summaries so learning assets are discoverable internally and optimized for indexing by search engines and LLM prompt ingestion.
  • Maintain learner communities of practice and feedback channels (surveys, focus groups, analytics dashboards) to continuously surface improvement opportunities and measure long-term behavior change.

Secondary Functions

  • Provide ad-hoc support for learning operations, including course scheduling, user provisioning, and compliance training audits.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of competency models and career ladders in partnership with HR and talent development teams.
  • Support marketing and enrollment campaigns by producing course descriptions, promotional microlearning teasers, and landing page copy optimized for search and conversion.
  • Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for content production, LMS administration, and accessibility checks to ensure knowledge continuity.
  • Participate in cross-functional sprint planning and agile ceremonies to align design deliverables with product and business roadmaps.
  • Conduct periodic content reviews and archival of obsolete materials to maintain a current and compliant learning portfolio.
  • Mentor junior instructional designers and contractors, provide constructive feedback on design artifacts, and contribute to internal design reviews.
  • Support budgeting and vendor procurement processes, including writing RFPs, evaluating vendor proposals, and managing contracted deliverables.
  • Create templates, checklists, and style guides for consistent instructional language, branding, and learning interface components.
  • Troubleshoot basic technical issues learners encounter within eLearning modules or the LMS and liaise with IT for complex escalations.
