Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and needs analyses for individual and corporate clients by reviewing financials, property exposures, employee benefits, and operational risks to determine optimal insurance solutions.

- Develop and maintain trusted client relationships, acting as primary point of contact for policy reviews, mid-term adjustments, renewals and strategic risk planning to drive retention and referrals.
- Manage the full insurance placement process: gather submissions, coordinate with underwriters, secure competitive terms, and finalize binders and policy documentation.
- Serve as client advocate and claims facilitator—coordinate claim reporting, liaise with claims adjusters, organize documentation, and monitor settlements to ensure efficient resolution and fair recovery.
- Design and implement employee benefits strategies (health, dental, life, disability) including plan comparisons, cost modeling, eligibility rules, and open enrollment support for employer-sponsored programs.
- Conduct renewal negotiations and market solicitations to improve coverages, reduce premium increases or secure multi-year terms; prepare renewal strategy memos and present to clients.
- Analyze policy wordings, endorsements, and exclusions to identify coverage gaps, recommend endorsements or alternative carriers, and draft clear coverage summaries for clients and internal teams.
- Support underwriting by preparing detailed risk submission packages, loss runs analysis, risk control recommendations and site inspection coordination to secure favorable terms.
- Monitor regulatory and compliance changes (state/federal insurance laws, ERISA, HIPAA, ACA implications) and update clients and internal processes to maintain compliance and reduce legal exposure.
- Implement and deliver client education sessions, workshops and training on loss prevention, policy interpretation, claims prevention and best practices to reduce frequency and severity of losses.
- Drive new business development through prospecting, networking, referrals, cold outreach, RFP responses and partnerships with accountants, attorneys and employee benefits consultants.
- Create and maintain accurate client files, CRM records, policy change logs and renewal calendars to ensure timely action and reduce administrative errors.
- Collaborate with internal teams (underwriting, actuarial, risk control, claims, compliance) to design customized insurance programs for complex or unique risks.
- Prepare financial impact analyses, premium allocation, and total cost of risk models to help clients make informed decisions about retention, deductibles, and self-insurance alternatives.
- Lead complex placement negotiations for large or layered programs (primary, excess/umbrella, captive programs) including program structure, reinsurance coordination and broker-of-record management.
- Assist in post-transaction activities such as M&A insurance due diligence, representation & warranty insurance reviews, and integration of insurance programs after acquisitions.
- Advise on specialty products such as professional liability for healthcare, marine, aviation, cyber insurance, and construction/contractors’ equipment coverage taking into account industry-specific exposures.
- Coordinate third-party vendor relationships (TPAs, loss control firms, wellness vendors, benefits administrators) to deliver integrated risk management and benefits solutions.
- Maintain up-to-date market knowledge of carrier appetite, pricing trends, new products and industry benchmarking data to proactively advise clients and win competitive placements.
- Prepare periodic management reports and KPI dashboards (retention rate, loss ratio by client, premium growth, quote-to-bind ratios) for leadership, producers and clients to measure program performance.
