Primary Functions

- Complete and submit accurate insurance applications, disclosures, and supporting documentation, and track application status through underwriting to policy issue.
- Maintain current and active state insurance licenses (life, health, property & casualty) and complete required continuing education to ensure regulatory compliance and product knowledge.
- Use agency management systems and CRM platforms (Salesforce, AgencyBloc, Applied Epic, or equivalent) to record activities, manage pipelines, and forecast sales performance.
- Coordinate medical exams, background checks, and verifications required for life and health underwriting, and communicate underwriting requirements and decisions to applicants.
- Negotiate policy terms, pricing, and endorsements with carriers and brokers to secure competitive coverage and favorable terms for clients.
- Execute effective cross-selling campaigns (e.g., bundling home and auto, adding riders to life policies) to increase average premium per client and diversify revenue streams.
- Attend carrier product training, industry conferences, and local networking events to stay informed on new products, market trends, and competitor offerings.
- Manage renewals and policy adjustments proactively, identifying at-risk accounts and recommending coverage enhancements or cost-saving alternatives to reduce lapse rates.
- Prepare and submit compliant claims support documentation, coordinate with claims teams, and advocate for clients throughout the claims lifecycle when necessary.
- Provide consultative sales presentations for groups and employer-sponsored plans, including quotes, benefits communication, and enrollment support for small to mid-size businesses.
- Develop targeted marketing materials, email campaigns, and referral programs in collaboration with marketing to drive lead flow and personal brand awareness in the community.
- Track and analyze sales metrics (conversion rates, average premium, persistency, lead to sale cycle time) to refine approach, improve close rates, and report results to management.
- Maintain strict adherence to privacy, fair marketing, and recordkeeping regulations (HIPAA, state insurance statutes, Do-Not-Call lists) in all client interactions and outreach.
- Support new business onboarding by coordinating policy issuance, premium billing setup, and client education on policy features, riders, and beneficiary designations.
- Manage renewals, cancellations, and reinstatements; proactively contact clients prior to renewal to review options and implement retention tactics to prevent lapses.
- Mentor and coach junior agents on best practices for prospecting, needs analysis, quoting, and closing to elevate team quota achievement and knowledge sharing.
