Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Lead end-to-end product design initiatives, taking ownership of discovery, ideation, prototyping, validation, and handoff to engineering for web and native applications to ensure consistent, high-quality user experiences.
  • Translate product strategy, user research, and business objectives into clear design deliverables, including user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, interactive prototypes, and annotated specs that communicate intent and implementation details.
  • Build and maintain scalable design systems and component libraries (tokens, components, patterns) that enable cross-platform consistency and accelerate delivery across product teams.
  • Conduct and synthesize user research and usability testing (moderated and unmoderated), convert qualitative and quantitative insights into actionable design decisions, and prioritize improvements based on impact and feasibility.
  • Collaborate with product managers to define and refine product requirements, success metrics, and release priorities, ensuring design tradeoffs are communicated and aligned to the roadmap.
  • Partner closely with engineering and QA to ensure pixel-accurate implementation, responsive behavior, performance considerations, and accessibility compliance (WCAG) across platforms.
  • Create advanced interactive prototypes and motion studies (micro-interactions, transitions) to validate interaction models and demonstrate complex states for stakeholders and engineers.
  • Advocate for and apply accessibility-first design principles, including semantic information architecture, keyboard navigation, color contrast, and screen reader support to make products inclusive.
  • Own the visual language and brand application across product surfaces, producing guideline documentation, style tiles, iconography, and motion rules to reinforce a cohesive product identity.
  • Analyze product usage data, KPIs, and A/B test results to iterate on features, surface opportunities for optimization, and measure the impact of design changes on engagement and business outcomes.
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops (design sprints, discovery sessions, co-creation) to align teams on problem framing, prioritize user needs, and accelerate solution discovery.
  • Mentor and review work of junior designers, provide constructive feedback, and help elevate team design craft through pair design and design reviews.
  • Define and document design patterns, interaction rules, and edge-case behaviors to reduce ambiguity and accelerate developer handoff with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations by presenting design rationale, articulating trade-offs, and building consensus across product leadership, marketing, and business partners.
  • Drive performance-minded design decisions that consider load times, asset sizes, and front-end constraints, while collaborating on implementation strategies such as progressive enhancement and lazy loading.
  • Implement responsive and adaptive design solutions to support multiple breakpoints, devices, and interaction modes while maintaining usability and aesthetics.
  • Collaborate with data analysts and product ops to instrument events and tracking that inform design hypotheses and measure feature success.
  • Lead cross-team initiatives to integrate design thinking into product discovery, release retrospectives, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Maintain a practical understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, React or native frameworks) to produce developer-friendly assets and reduce friction during implementation.
  • Perform competitive analysis and benchmarking to uncover product gaps, opportunities for differentiation, and inspiration for new features while grounding recommendations in user need and business value.
  • Drive localization and internationalization considerations in design, ensuring layouts and components adapt to translated content and cultural contexts.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis.
  • Contribute to the organization's data strategy and roadmap.
  • Collaborate with business units to translate data needs into engineering requirements.
  • Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies within the data engineering team.
  • Assist marketing and brand teams with design assets and product imagery for campaigns to maintain visual consistency.
  • Support onboarding of design tooling and process improvements to increase team efficiency.
  • Document case studies and design decisions for internal knowledge sharing and recruitment materials.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Proficiency in modern design and prototyping tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Framer, Principle) for producing high-fidelity designs and interactive prototypes.
  • Strong UX fundamentals: user flows, information architecture, wireframing, journey mapping, and task analysis.
  • Solid visual design capabilities: typography, layout, color theory, iconography, and grid systems for pixel-perfect interfaces.
  • Interaction and motion design experience to define micro-interactions, transitions, and state changes that improve usability.
