  • Produce full set construction documentation, including detailed floor plans, elevations, sections, schedules, and specifications that ensure buildability and regulatory compliance with local building codes, fire regulations, and accessibility standards.
  • Develop and manage BIM/ Revit models and coordinate model-based workflows with consultants (structural, MEP, lighting, acoustics) to detect clashes, maintain as-built accuracy, and streamline construction coordination.
  • Specify finishes, materials, furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) with clear product data, performance criteria, samples, and procurement recommendations to meet budget, durability, and sustainability targets.
  • Create high-quality renderings, physical or digital mock-ups, and VR walkthroughs to communicate design intent and secure stakeholder approvals during schematic and client presentation phases.
  • Prepare and manage project deliverables such as design proposals, detailed cost estimates, tender packages, and bid evaluations to support procurement and contractor selection processes.
  • Oversee and coordinate with contractors and subcontractors during construction administration, conduct regular site visits, review shop drawings, issue RFI responses, and process change orders to maintain design integrity.
  • Lead client-facing meetings, present concepts, clarifications, and progress updates; translate client feedback into actionable design revisions while protecting scope and schedule.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, milestone trackers, and deliverable timelines, proactively identifying and mitigating risks to meet budget and launch targets.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and programming exercises, including user needs analysis, occupancy studies, and functional adjacencies, to inform conceptual design and strategic decision-making.
  • Apply code review and compliance checks early in the design process to identify permitting requirements, life-safety strategies, egress planning, and accessibility solutions.
  • Prepare and maintain interior architectural specifications, master finish palettes, and standards manuals that support brand consistency and quality control across multiple projects.
  • Lead FF&E procurement efforts, including vendor negotiations, sample approvals, order tracking, logistics coordination, and installation oversight to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Mentor junior designers and interns, provide technical reviews, conduct design critiques, and establish best practices for documentation, drafting standards, and BIM workflows.
  • Integrate sustainable design principles into interior architecture choices—material selection, daylighting, energy-efficient lighting, and recycling strategies—and support certification efforts (WELL, LEED, BREEAM) when required.
  • Conduct post-occupancy evaluations and performance reviews to gather client feedback, measure success criteria, and inform continuous improvement of design solutions.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, balancing client priorities, internal resource allocation, external consultant timelines, and quality assurance across each design phase.
  • Create and maintain digital asset libraries (details, standard details, assemblies, schedules) and internal knowledge bases to increase efficiency and standardization across teams.
  • Ensure accurate cost control by collaborating with cost consultants, reviewing estimates at schematic, design development, and construction documentation phases, and advising clients on value engineering options.
  • Coordinate lighting design and power/data requirements with electrical consultants to achieve design intent, code compliance, and optimal user experience for interior environments.
  • Produce regulatory submission packages and support the permitting process by assembling required drawings, code narratives, and consultant reports for local authorities.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist in business development activities by preparing design concepts, proposals, and case studies for new client pitches and RFP responses.
  • Support marketing and thought leadership efforts with project photography, project descriptions, and participation in awards submissions to showcase studio capabilities.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors, fabricators, and suppliers to stay informed about new materials, finishes, and production lead times that may impact design decisions.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary workshops, design charrettes, and user engagement sessions to align project outcomes with stakeholder needs and organizational strategy.
  • Track project budgets and invoice schedules, prepare fee applications, and manage client contract amendments under the guidance of senior leadership.
  • Assist with quality assurance reviews, ensuring drawings meet office standards, dimensioning rules, and construction detailing conventions prior to issuance.
  • Coordinate sample libraries and maintain physical/digital material repositories for team access and client presentations.
  • Facilitate handover packages and post-construction documentation, including operations and maintenance manuals, warranty information, and as-built drawings.
