- Develop and maintain project schedules (Gantt/timeline), coordinate procurement and installation milestones, and proactively mitigate delays by adjusting sequences or sourcing alternatives.
- Supervise and mentor junior designers and interns by delegating tasks, conducting design reviews, and providing technical guidance on detailing, CAD/BIM standards, and presentation techniques.
- Prepare professional proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates, and client contracts; manage billing cycles, timekeeping, and invoicing to support project financials.
- Lead on-site installations and move-in coordination, supervising installers, resolving field issues, and ensuring proper placement and quality of FF&E and finishes.
- Conduct post-occupancy evaluations and client follow-ups to assess design performance, identify improvements, and secure testimonials or case study material for the firm’s portfolio.
- Maintain and curate physical and digital material libraries, sample boards, and product mock-ups; stay current with industry trends, new materials, sustainability certifications, and emerging technologies.
- Drive business development efforts by preparing competitive design proposals, responding to RFPs, presenting at client meetings, and maintaining relationships with repeat clients and industry partners.
- Implement sustainable design strategies (LEED, WELL, passive strategies) by selecting low-VOC materials, energy-efficient lighting, and responsible sourcing to meet client sustainability goals.
- Prepare detailed lighting plans, coordination with electrical consultants, and specify luminaires, controls, and photometric requirements to achieve ambiance, functionality, and code compliance.
- Lead the integration of custom millwork, joinery, and bespoke furnishings by collaborating with fabricators, preparing detailed construction drawings, and managing quality assurance.
