  • Define and enforce architecture principles, standards and governance (TOGAF‑aligned patterns, architecture review boards) to ensure consistency across international programs.
  • Architect secure, compliant solutions that address cross‑border data protection, privacy and residency requirements (GDPR, local privacy laws) and collaborate with legal and compliance teams to operationalize controls.
  • Design multi‑region disaster recovery, high‑availability and data replication strategies that meet RTO/RPO targets while optimizing cost and user latency.
  • Specify integration patterns (API gateway, event‑driven, batch, streaming) and messaging/topology strategies to connect distributed systems and third‑party partners at scale.
  • Lead cloud migration strategy and technical execution for complex applications including lift‑and‑shift, re‑platforming and cloud‑native redesigns with strong cost and risk analysis.
  • Drive microservices and service mesh design decisions, defining boundaries, contracts, and versioning policies to enable independent regional teams to ship reliably.
  • Lead or contribute to the creation of proof‑of‑concepts (PoCs) and pilots to validate architectural choices, new cloud services, and regional deployment models.
  • Define infrastructure‑as‑code (IaC) patterns (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines for multi‑region deployments, ensuring repeatability and security by default.
  • Own capacity planning, performance tuning and operational readiness plans for global services, in partnership with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and operations teams.
  • Establish monitoring, observability and telemetry standards (logs, metrics, traces) to enable incident detection, root cause analysis and SLAs across regions.
  • Manage vendor and partner architecture relationships, conducting technical due diligence and defining integration and support SLAs for global rollouts.
  • Conduct technical risk assessments and security threat modeling for cross‑border systems, and define mitigation strategies with security and identity teams.
  • Provide architecture leadership during RFPs, pre‑sales engagements and commercial negotiations where technical fit and multi‑region delivery are key evaluation criteria.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional and cross‑regional engineering teams, facilitating architecture workshops, design sessions and handoffs to ensure timely delivery and acceptance.
  • Define data architecture and data residency approaches, including partitioning, encryption‑at‑rest/in‑transit, anonymization, and compliance controls for international datasets.
  • Create and maintain architecture documentation, diagrams and decision records (ADR) that are clear, searchable and usable by distributed engineering teams.
  • Mentor and coach senior architects and technical leads across regions, driving consistency in practices, design reviews and architecture maturity.
  • Develop and maintain cost models and TCO analysis for multi‑region deployments, optimizing cloud spend while meeting performance and compliance objectives.
  • Participate in or lead the architecture review board to approve complex designs, deprecate legacy patterns and promote reuse of platform services globally.
  • Ensure localization and internationalization architectural considerations are embedded in product architecture (time zones, currencies, language support, regional legal constraints).
  • Drive continuous improvement of architecture processes, toolchains and templates to decrease time to market and increase reliability for global initiatives.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad‑hoc technical and architecture data requests from product, engineering and regional teams to accelerate decision making.
  • Contribute to the organization’s architecture strategy and roadmap by providing market feedback and technical feasibility assessments.
  • Collaborate with business units to translate international market requirements into architecture and engineering deliverables and acceptance criteria.
  • Participate in sprint planning, agile ceremonies and cross‑team design reviews to ensure architecture alignment during execution.
  • Build reusable architecture components, blueprints and starter kits to enable regional teams to deploy compliant, production‑grade systems quickly.
  • Support incident response, post‑mortems and continuous improvement initiatives when multi‑region services are impacted.
  • Liaise with local data center providers, cloud account teams and enterprise networking to coordinate region‑specific connectivity and peering arrangements.
  • Provide input to organizational hiring plans to build architecture and platform capabilities needed for global scale.
  • Represent architecture interests in executive steering committees, providing technical risk summaries and mitigation plans.
