  • Manage on-site project execution including scope confirmation, resource planning, risk assessment, timeline management and coordination with local contractors and site management.
  • Provide on-site and remote technical training for customer operators and local support teams, develop user-facing documentation, and hand over technical materials and maintenance plans.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring failures, produce corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and collaborate with R&D and engineering to implement design improvements.
  • Maintain accurate service reports, parts usage records, and time sheets in the company’s CRM/field service management system to ensure warranty compliance and billing accuracy.
  • Coordinate spare parts inventory management and logistics planning for global deployments, including forecasting critical spares, staging kits for travel, and minimizing downtime through rapid part replacement.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulatory, environmental, electrical and safety standards (e.g., CE, IEC, OSHA equivalents), conduct site safety briefings and complete required risk assessments and permits.
  • Liaise with customs brokers and logistics partners to prepare export/import documentation, temporary import permits, ATA carnets and to resolve cross-border shipping or clearance issues.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call field support for escalated incidents, coordinate cross-functional responses with remote engineering teams and manage customer expectations during major incidents.
  • Implement and maintain secure remote connectivity for diagnostics and updates (VPN, SSH, secure remote desktop) and follow company IT security policies while troubleshooting systems remotely.
  • Perform mechanical alignment, welding, machining adjustments, and precision assembly tasks to meet manufacturer tolerances during on-site installations and retrofits.
  • Test and verify instrumentation and communications protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, OPC-UA) and integrate field devices with plant control systems or cloud-based telemetry platforms.
  • Support commissioning of power systems, UPS, generators, and grounding systems, ensuring electrical safety, phase balancing and proper protective device settings.
  • Record lessons learned from each international assignment, update service knowledge base articles, and contribute to continuous improvement of field processes and documentation.
  • Work closely with sales and project management to translate customer requirements into workable service deliverables, scope of work documents and change orders.
  • Manage warranty claims and service-level agreement (SLA) obligations, including cost tracking, RMA handling, and communication with product management and customer service teams.
  • Apply cross-cultural communication best practices when interacting with international clients and site teams, ensuring professional conduct, clear expectations and positive customer relationships.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis.
  • Contribute to the organization's data strategy and roadmap.
  • Collaborate with business units to translate data needs into engineering requirements.
  • Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies within the data engineering team.
  • Maintain and update digital field manuals, service checklists and step-by-step troubleshooting flows for global use.
  • Assist in vendor management for outsourced mechanical/electrical works, coordinating work scopes and quality acceptance of subcontracted tasks.
  • Support health, safety and environmental audits on site and implement corrective actions to address audit findings.
  • Contribute to quote and proposal reviews by providing realistic field labor estimates, travel constraints and needed spare parts for international projects.
