Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Define and own the product vision, strategy and multi-quarter roadmap for IT platforms (cloud services, middleware, integrations, identity/access, or enterprise apps), aligning priorities to company objectives, regulatory requirements and customer outcomes.
  • Gather, synthesize and prioritize customer, partner and internal stakeholder feedback (security, legal, sales, support, operations), converting inputs into detailed product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and release plans.
  • Drive cross-functional delivery by working directly with engineering, QA, UX, security and operations teams; remove blockers, manage trade-offs and ensure releases meet quality, performance and reliability targets.
  • Translate technical constraints and architecture considerations into business-focused decisions; work with architects to shape scalable, maintainable technical solutions and define non-functional requirements (SLA, SLO, scalability, availability).
  • Create and maintain the product backlog, apply prioritization frameworks (RICE, MoSCoW, Weighted Shortest Job First), and lead sprint planning, refinement and release ceremonies in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Define, monitor and report on quantitative product metrics (adoption, retention, MTTR, uptime, mean time to detect, cost per transaction, TCO), use analytics to measure impact and iterate on features to improve KPIs.
  • Lead go-to-market planning for new features and platform releases, including rollout strategies, training for internal teams (sales, support, implementation), release notes, and stakeholder communications.
  • Build business cases and ROI analyses for product investments, managing prioritization of projects against budget and resource constraints and presenting recommendations to senior leadership for funding decisions.
  • Partner with Security, Compliance and Legal teams to ensure the product meets regulatory requirements (GDPR, SOC2, HIPAA as applicable), and drive secure-by-design practices in product development.
  • Manage vendor and third-party relationships (SaaS vendors, ISVs, system integrators), including RFP/RFI participation, contract negotiation, SLAs and vendor roadmap alignment.
  • Define API and integration strategies, working with engineering to design developer-friendly APIs, SDKs, and data contracts; ensure integrations are secure, documented and maintainable.
  • Drive platform modernization initiatives (cloud migration, microservices adoption, observability improvements) by defining migration approaches, deprecation plans, and stakeholder communication for impacted teams.
  • Conduct user research, customer interviews and usability testing to validate assumptions, refine requirements and ensure the product delivers clear value to internal power users and external customers.
  • Own incident and problem management playbooks for product areas, coordinate cross-functional incident response, post-incident reviews, and implement improvements to reduce recurrence and mean time to resolution.
  • Manage feature lifecycle from concept to retirement, including prioritization, design handoff, QA acceptance, phased rollout, monitoring and sunset planning with clear migration paths for customers.
  • Collaborate with Data and Analytics teams to specify instrumentation, events and telemetry needed for reliable measurement, A/B testing, experimentation, and ML/AI use cases where applicable.
  • Champion product pricing, licensing and packaging decisions in partnership with finance and commercial teams; evaluate monetization opportunities and support contract negotiations for enterprise deals.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive product documentation, runbooks, onboarding guides and training material to ensure smooth adoption by customers and internal teams.
  • Facilitate stakeholder governance forums (steering committees, architecture reviews), present roadmap updates, risk assessments and trade-off analyses to executives and cross-functional leadership.
  • Lead continuous process improvements for product development and delivery (CI/CD, automation, release orchestration), identify bottlenecks and collaborate with engineering to enhance velocity without sacrificing quality.
  • Advocate for accessibility, localization and internationalization considerations in product planning to support global deployments and diverse user needs.
  • Mentor and coach junior product managers, product owners and cross-functional teammates on product best practices, prioritization techniques and stakeholder engagement strategies.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis.
  • Contribute to the organization's data strategy and roadmap.
  • Collaborate with business units to translate data needs into engineering requirements.
  • Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies within the data engineering team.
  • Assist in evaluating new third-party tools and platforms for piloting and potential adoption.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to sales and customer success during pre-sales engagements and implementations.
  • Monitor competitive landscape, market trends and emerging technologies to inform product differentiation and future capability investments.
  • Support customer escalations that require product-level decisions or roadmap commitments.
