Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Conceptualize and develop original jewelry collections from initial inspiration and mood boards through to final, approved designs that align with the brand’s creative vision and commercial goals.
- Create detailed and precise technical drawings, sketches, and specifications for all components, including dimensions, stone settings, and mechanisms for production.
- Utilize industry-standard CAD software (like Rhino, MatrixGold, or ZBrush) to build 3D models of jewelry pieces for prototyping, rendering, and manufacturing.
- Conduct continuous and in-depth market research, competitor analysis, and trend forecasting to identify new opportunities and ensure designs are relevant, innovative, and desirable.
- Select and source high-quality gemstones, diamonds, pearls, and precious metals, working within budget constraints while meeting aesthetic and quality standards.
- Collaborate intimately with product development teams, master jewelers, and overseas/domestic manufacturers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring design integrity is flawlessly executed.
- Generate high-quality, photorealistic 3D renderings of new designs for internal presentations, stakeholder approvals, marketing materials, and e-commerce visuals.
- Manage the entire design lifecycle for multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining clear timelines from brainstorming and initial sketches to reviewing and approving final production samples.
- Ensure every design strictly adheres to the established brand DNA, aesthetic guidelines, quality benchmarks, and target cost/price structures.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive digital and physical library of designs, components, material specifications, and technical packs for future reference and continuity.
- Work closely with merchandising and sales teams to gather customer feedback and performance data, strategically applying these insights to refine existing products and inform future collections.
- Revise and perfect designs based on feedback from technical reviews, cost engineering, and sample evaluations, finding creative solutions to production challenges.
- Prepare detailed Bill of Materials (BOMs) for each design, accurately listing all materials, stones, findings, and labor processes required for costing and production.
- Oversee the prototyping and sample-making process, providing clear feedback and approvals to ensure the final product perfectly matches the original design intent.
- Develop unique and bespoke jewelry pieces through direct consultation with private clients or for special projects, skillfully translating personal stories and preferences into tangible, one-of-a-kind creations.
