Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Provide comprehensive one-on-one coaching to a diverse portfolio of clients, guiding them through career transitions, whether voluntary or involuntary.
  • Conduct in-depth intake sessions to understand each client's career history, skills, achievements, and future aspirations to develop a customized job search strategy.
  • Expertly review, edit, and rewrite client resumes, cover letters, and professional summaries to align with modern standards and optimize for Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).
  • Guide clients in developing a powerful personal brand, including the creation and optimization of their LinkedIn profiles to attract recruiters and hiring managers.
  • Develop and deliver engaging workshops and webinars on a wide range of job search topics, including networking strategies, advanced job board usage, and personal branding.
  • Conduct rigorous mock interviews, providing constructive, actionable feedback on communication style, body language, and effective use of the STAR method for behavioral questions.
  • Coach clients on effective networking techniques, both online and in-person, to tap into the hidden job market and build valuable professional connections.
  • Research and provide insights on industry trends, labor market information, and compensation data to help clients set realistic expectations and target appropriate opportunities.
  • Assist clients in developing a multi-pronged job search plan that includes targeting specific companies, leveraging professional associations, and utilizing various online platforms.
  • Provide guidance and tactical support during the salary negotiation process to ensure clients receive competitive and fair compensation packages.
  • Maintain detailed and confidential records of client interactions, progress, and outcomes using a CRM or other tracking systems.
  • Serve as a source of motivation and accountability, helping clients stay positive and persistent throughout the often challenging job search process.
  • Customize job search strategies for clients in specialized fields or at executive levels, addressing the unique challenges of their respective markets.
  • Develop and maintain a repository of high-quality career resources, tools, and templates for client use.
  • Build and maintain relationships with employers, recruiters, and industry leaders to create a network that can benefit clients.
  • Provide post-placement support, coaching clients through the first 90 days of their new role to ensure a successful transition and integration.
  • Evaluate and interpret career assessment tools (e.g., Myers-Briggs, Strong Interest Inventory) to help clients identify their strengths and ideal career paths.
  • Coach clients on how to effectively articulate their value proposition and career story across all professional communications.
  • Stay current with evolving recruitment technologies, hiring trends, and best practices in career coaching to provide cutting-edge advice.
  • Manage client caseloads effectively, ensuring each individual receives timely, high-quality, and personalized support.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:

  • Master's Degree in a relevant field and/or a recognized coaching certification (e.g., CCMC, CPCC, CPRW).

Relevant Fields of Study:

  • Counseling (Career or Mental Health)

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 3-7 years

Preferred: A strong background with 3+ years of direct experience in full-cycle recruiting, corporate HR, outplacement services, or university career counseling is highly preferred. Demonstrable success in guiding others through career challenges is essential.
