Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Skillfully operate and continuously monitor industrial-grade juice extraction machinery, including hydraulic presses, decanter centrifuges, and finishers, to ensure optimal performance.
- Meticulously load raw produce onto conveyors or directly into machinery, ensuring a consistent and efficient flow of materials according to production schedules.
- Proactively adjust machine parameters, such as pressure, speed, temperature, and cycle times, to maximize juice yield and maintain superior product quality based on the type and condition of the raw ingredients.
- Conduct frequent and precise quality assurance checks on both raw materials and extracted juice, testing for key attributes like Brix (sugar content), pH, color, and sensory characteristics.
- Diligently maintain comprehensive and accurate production logs, meticulously documenting batch numbers, raw material usage, juice yields, equipment settings, and any operational downtime.
- Strictly adhere to all established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety protocols to prevent contamination and ensure product integrity throughout the extraction process.
- Perform thorough cleaning and sanitization of all extraction equipment, processing tanks, and the surrounding work area in accordance with detailed Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
- Independently troubleshoot and resolve minor equipment malfunctions and operational disruptions to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
- Promptly and clearly communicate major equipment failures or safety hazards to the maintenance and supervisory teams for immediate resolution.
- Ensure the seamless and correct transfer of extracted juice from the extraction equipment to the subsequent processing stages, such as filtration, pasteurization, or climate-controlled holding tanks.
- Efficiently manage the collection, segregation, and proper disposal of pomace (pulp waste) and other by-products in a sanitary and environmentally responsible manner.
- Regularly calibrate and verify the accuracy of measurement instruments, such as scales, thermometers, and refractometers, to ensure precise quality control and process monitoring.
- Collaborate closely with the entire production team, including supervisors and quality assurance personnel, to consistently meet or exceed daily and weekly production targets.
- Uphold and champion all company and regulatory safety standards, including the consistent and correct use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like safety glasses, gloves, and non-slip footwear.
- Carefully inspect all incoming raw produce for quality indicators such as ripeness, damage, or any signs of spoilage or contamination before it enters the production stream.
- Execute systematic and efficient product changeovers, which includes completely dismantling, cleaning, sanitizing, and reassembling equipment to prepare for a different juice variety.
Secondary Functions
- Actively participate in the training and mentoring of new operators, sharing knowledge on equipment operation, safety procedures, and quality control best practices.
- Contribute valuable insights to continuous improvement programs and lean manufacturing initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, reducing waste, and improving overall product quality.
- Support inventory management efforts by providing accurate data on raw material consumption and finished juice output to ensure precise stock-taking.
- Assist in cross-functional team projects by providing operational expertise and hands-on support for new product trials or process optimization experiments.
