Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Interpret and execute tasks based on complex engineering blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and detailed work orders to determine project requirements and assembly sequences.
- Perform high-precision soldering, brazing, and welding (TIG, MIG) on a variety of materials, including metals and specialized alloys, to create strong and reliable connections.
- Set up, calibrate, and operate a range of fabrication machinery such as shears, press brakes, grinders, CNC machines, and laser cutters with a high degree of accuracy.
- Execute intricate assembly of mechanical and electronic components, ensuring proper alignment, fit, and function according to strict tolerance specifications.
- Conduct in-process quality control checks and final inspections using precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and optical comparators.
- Meticulously document all fabrication and assembly steps, material usage, and inspection results in production logs or a Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
- Identify and troubleshoot issues related to fabrication processes, equipment malfunctions, or material defects, and collaborate with engineering for resolution.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols and OSHA regulations, maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment (5S principles) to prevent accidents.
- Manage and prepare materials for fabrication, including cutting, grinding, deburring, and cleaning surfaces to ensure optimal conditions for assembly and welding.
- Work with delicate or sensitive materials, including semiconductor wafers or fiber optic cables, often within a controlled cleanroom environment.
- Perform precision bonding and sealing operations using epoxies, adhesives, and other chemical agents, ensuring proper curing and adhesion.
- Operate and monitor automated fabrication equipment, such as wire bonders or die attach systems, making adjustments as needed to maintain quality output.
- Assemble custom wiring harnesses and cable assemblies, including crimping, stripping, and connector installation, following detailed wiring diagrams.
- Verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specifications, using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers.
- Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in the preparation of manufacturing work, ensuring all equipment is in proper working order.
Secondary Functions
- Assist the engineering and R&D departments in the development and fabrication of new product prototypes and first-article builds.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on fabrication tools and machinery to ensure operational readiness and minimize production downtime.

- Precision Measurement: Expertise in using and reading metrology tools such as digital calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Welding & Soldering: Skilled in various welding techniques (TIG, MIG) and/or precision soldering (SMT, through-hole) for electronics assembly.
